OK, this is going to sound really dumb ... can i put an OEM Supercharger on my X? If so, is it a difficult process? Are there any advantages (besides the obvious)?

I have heard of a few guys trying it and saw that it's alot more involved than just throwing the supercharger on there.
You need to swap out a bunch of other things on the engine and inside workings as well as the ECU and stuff.
One of the guys I had talked to said it would be alot easier to just do a engine swap.

It does take many many more bits and pieces, besides the s/c itself, to make this functional. Than after is it put together, you should really have it tuned professionally.
If you are new to forced induction dynamics, performing this mod yourself is not even worth thinking about. Unfortunatley, to hire a shop to do this work will likely cost you 2x's the cost of a used stock s/c Xterra.
Just a quick list of parts off of the top of my head. . .
Working S/C
Intake manifold (maybe?)
Computer
Wire harnesses
Misc. Sensors
Intake plumping
Belts/pullys
edit: Many, Many little bit and pieces
This has been discussed time and time again on XOC.
I don't mean to discourage you on this. The swap has been done by able-bodied mechanics, although it is really left to the pros.

A much easier and cheaper way to do it would be to swap in the entire engine and ECU from a wrecked Xterra with the same transmission as yours.
