Welcome to the ECXC16 Trail Group Discussion!
This year there will be three (3) Group types; “Stock”, “Intermediate” and “Advanced” .

“Stock” - Stock trails range in difficulty from flat dirt roads to slightly off-camber and rocky trails. Stock trails are best suited for inexperienced wheelers and bone stock vehicles. Threat of vehicle damage is non-existent as long as you drive responsibly, however brush scratches are possible. Stock Trails include easier green trails.

“Intermediate” - Intermediate trails offer more of a challenge for slightly modified vehicles. Trails will be rockier, may have more off camber situations and may include rocky creek crossings. Bone stock vehicles can handle most of these trails, but without skid plates and rock sliders, both undercarriage damage and rocker panel damage should be expected. The threat of damage on these trails is minimal, but should not be unexpected. Careless or inattentive driving will result in body damage. Harder Green trails and easier Blue Trails at Rausch Creek would be taken in this group.

“Advanced” – If you are considering these I don’t really need to tell ya nutin. I wouldn’t run them without 33’s or bigger, a winch, full protection, a carefree attitude towards damage, the tools/parts/ability and supplies to repair breakage. Blue, Blue/Black, Black trails (depending on group make-up) will be run by this group.
Since anyone that signs up for an “Advanced” group and has been to Rausch in the past can lead a group and since I have been the only one to volunteer in the past couple of years I’m not assigning any “Advanced Trail Leaders” this year. As soon as any two of these fools show up in the morning they can go run trails and not stand around bitching at me...

This year Attendees will not be “Locked” into a group until they arrive.

Preference for individual an “Trail Leader” will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis.

Trails that are run by a group are determined by the groups “Trail Leader”.

Hey Tom, I'm gonna have Matt get in touch with you on this. He was talking to me about taking to you to be a trail leader one or two days this year. Idk if he's seen this thread yet or not, but I'll have him look at it and either catch you here or in a pm :)

No worries. If he just wants to volunteer he can just do so when he signs up. If he has questions he can PM me or just post them here.

Okay, just started looking at this BS and so far we’ve got 31 drivers on Thursday, 38 on Friday and 42 on Saturday.

Thursday; 31 Trucks, 9 Advanced with 2 Leaders, 10 Intermediate with 3 Leaders (3 or 4 trucks per group) and 9 Stock with 2 Leaders (4 or 5 trucks per group).

Friday; 38 Trucks, 10 Advanced with 2 Leaders, 16 Intermediate with 3 Leaders (5 or 6 trucks per group) and 10 Stock with 2 Leaders (5 trucks per group).

Saturday; 42 Trucks, 11 Advanced with 2 Leaders, 19 Intermediate with 5 Leaders (3 or 4 trucks per group) and 12 Stock with 3 Leaders (4 trucks per group).

I’m not assigning any “Advanced Trail Leaders” this year. As soon as any two of these fools show up in the morning they can go run trails.

I’m going to assign Trail Leaders for each of the Intermediate and Stock Groups we have going out each day. When a Group fills we’ll send them out and start filling the next; Intermediate 1 fills, they go. Intermediate 2 fills they go, etc.

I’m thinking almost all the guys that run Intermediate year after year  want to run with Keith (who has again volunteered to lead an Intermediate group each of the three days) so he will be the 1st Intermediate Group each day. Out first as kind of a thank you. beer1

The only variation of this would be to have a “Harder” Intermediate Group waiting on the side Friday and Saturday lead by Tom Slocum who volunteered to lead an Intermediate Group those days. He scares most of those guys so I don’t want to force someone to run with him. Plus this way he won’t get bored Friday and back out on Saturday.

I’ll revise, lock this in and post it after July 1st deadline has past.

I forget, are the Groups listed as 1, 2, 3, etc or something else?

The signs I have go to # 15 I believe so we should have enough signs. Yes they are listed 1, 2, 3, etc.

I'm probably going to run the basic blue trails. Last year I was pretty rough on the X.

That sounds good to me!

Earlier in the year, I was talking about leading a green. Unless there is a green shortage, I would prefer to lead blue all 3 days. I had intended my son drive one of the days but I overestimated how fast he was going to learn how to drive stick and I would like to get a few more miles out of my clutch.

And while I truly appreciate the nod, if people are asking about a harder blue run, I can accommodate.

Your excellent reputation as a Trail Leader continues to lock your “Group” in as the most requested. You will Lead Group 1 on the days you Lead no matter what type of trails you decide to run. Sorry.

Unless you want to run "Advanced" trails with me and break the hearts of your "Intermediate" trail running fans...

Not going to argue about getting out on the trails early.

One of these events I am going advanced...

Also just noticed that I'm stock on Friday. Swap me to intermediate?
