Well do you think it's safe with a squeaky tensioner?

I wouldn't. What I mean is that if there is a possibility you might attend you should sign up. If you can't get it fixed just post that you can't make it.
That's what I was thinking too but I'm 99% sure I won't get the time in the next few weeks to get it done unless someone in western mass can give me a hand. Basically I work most days and it's cold and I don't have a garage to pull into.

Welcome to Nexterra & your first club run.

Whether you’re done this before or not, you’ll have fun. If you still have them on, remove mudflaps & the stock steps as those get damaged very easily.

Like Tim said above, listen to your spotters & don’t be shy asking for another set of eyes. I will be requiring everyone to air down for this run....if you don’t have a means of airing up, don’t worry. There’s a gas station close by to air up after the run.

Is that what most people do is take off the mud flaps and steps? I thought that would help prevent some damage from rocks and such? I’ll be coming with 2 friends hopefully riding with me for their first time too. Will one of them have to be a spotter? How does that work ?

If there is a particularly difficult spot on the trail, or someone notices that you’re having a tough time with an obstacle, they’ll most likely jump out and spot you, or someone will already be waiting there to guide you through. It’s probably best that your friend(s) aren’t spotters if they’ve never wheeled before. Nothing against them, but people who have wheeled before generally know what to look out for, etc.

The mud flaps generally get torn off, and can cause body damage in the process. The step rails are just thin walled aluminum tubing and will crush if you happen to put them against any rocks/logs/etc. You certainly don’t have to remove them, but let this be fair warning that they could end up damaged if you leave them on.

Most of Gremlin is green, meaning novice or beginner, with some blue and black optional obstacles. There are stumps, which should be avoided, but everything else can be done with a stock Xterra.

Yup. The stock steps are great for getting in but are weak & the first to get damaged. Mud flaps are the same. Proper rock rails are what you want offroad, along with skid plates.

We like beginners, you’ll have a great time. Damage is always a possibility when wheeling, but we try to avoid it.

Remove the flaps and step rails. Trust me you'll like the look better. I had mine on until I needed an excuse for taking them off. Wish I did it sooner. But like everyone else said better to be safe than sorry. Besides you can always put them back on when done wheeling.

Is there any rock climbs at GG? What is the most difficult section?

Most of the main trails are stock friendly, there are some section that a stock truck will need careful maneuvering but doable. And then there are harder optional trails, ledges & hill climbs. Depending on how soft the ground is, we’ll decide what trails/obstacles will be allowed to be attempted in order to tread lightly.

What are you looking for? What do you normally wheel?

Usually not to difficult trails been on some moderate rock climbs, been prepping the truck so i want to make sure im covered (skid wise) for any damage the trail has to offer. Have an engine skid and sliders , but wanted to see if i should be good without center skids protecting my tranny and transfercase

As long as you’re sensible, you’ll be fine. You’ll like GG, the main trails are stock friendly with enough obstacles to get the heart pumping a bit. And then there are the varying difficulty levels of obstacles for folks that want more excitement.

I have always enjoyed wheeling GG & looking forward to being there again.
