FYI - these are stocker friendly trails, and I don't think it would be worth that drive for you to come out for this one. Don't get me wrong - I want you to come and join us, but I'd hate to see you waste all that time driving and be disappointed with the trails.

We're not going to this run, but wanted give an answer this question. Based on signage, they close that gate at dusk (±1/2hour). The road we've taken after the ledge on the 2 runs we've been on has no gate to my knowledge. We've definitely done the last leg in the dark.

A coworker who had an Xterra said he saw a person dive into the water from the ledge and swim to the shore...I have 0 interest in even touching that stagnant water

Just out of curiosity, I bought the book "Dark Woods" which tells about all the awful stuff that has happened in the Taunton/Freetown forest. It's supposed to show up today. They say you can't put it down once you start reading it.

Other things of interest:
-hooded person at the top of the ledge
-native american ghosts who randomly appear
-the witch who approaches young men asking for favors
-pukwudgies
-the people who have been murdered/dumped there
-the ghosts that run down the ledge (vertically)

There's been accounts by people who were driving the roads at night come across an old lady who stares you down, will follow you back to your vehicle, and then try reaching inside.

We won't be going into the gated state forest area which includes the ledge. The plan is to do Taunton & the Quinapaug & I can't remember the other road we take. That's good news to me... I don't want to be meeing any vertical running ghosts or weird old ladies staring me down.

Maybe we should have a 'ghost hunter' run later this year!

I have seen some crazy things out there over the years
mostly way off the beaten path
old campsites and remnants of different strange events
mostly accessible only on foot or by 4runner
the ledge will be closed at night , the water is full of bacteria and oil, junk cars and shopping carts ect.
should be a fun run, charles and I usually out there past dark anyway
