So,what happened? Looks like you had just enough snow to make it interesting.
What happened was that I tried to follow Ernie!!! Yea, I should know better by now...
1st attempt at Diaper Hill, 2nd gear, both lockers on... made it about a quarter of the way, lost traction & slid (the tires didn't even have traction hold the Jeep where I stopped) all the way back down. Missed a tree, rocks etc. Didn't feel too bad from inside, so (quite stupidly I should add), decided to give it another go.
2nd attempt - more runway, 3rd gear this time, lockers on, more gas.... made it half way to the top...and then all hell broke lose. Lost all traction, stalled the engine, wheels locked, slid down backwards what felt like a 45% slope @ 45mpg (it felt that fast anyways). Was sure I was going to crash into that tree (you'll know it when you see it)... luckily the Jeep fell into some ruts that pulled it around, the tree just kissed the passenger fender flare, tearing off the side marker. Continued to bounce all the way to the bottom with heart in my mouth, waiting for the rollover. Luckily, stayed right side up & made it to the bottom in one piece. I was told later, once I've collected my wits, that my front wheels were off the ground & rolling over was eminent. That's the second time I felt like I was going to die on Diaper Hill.... both times trying to follow Ernie. mmm.... weird coincidence!! hahaha....
Oh.. and I almost killed Will who was taking pictures from the bottom of the hill!! He had to take evasive action & so no pictorial evidence of this incident exists. If there was a video, it'll be the perfect example of what not to do. Dave & Will good to see it all from the bottom of the hill & Ernie from the top.
Damage - just a broken side marker lamp.
