Jeff - thanks for organizing an amazing run.
Keith - thanks for leading & breaking trail.

Just got back from an awesome day. Cold cold day with lots of snow cover at Rausch. We met up on this frigid morning, the temp showed 3 F when I drove into the parking lot. It didn’t get much higher than single digits for the morning. Jeff/JeffPro4X, Keith/LizardKing, Jeff/JeffNJM3, Tom/TomsRedX & Suresh/Dirtysocks made up the crew today.

Keith led us through several green & blue snow covered trails in the morning … uneventfully. The snow gave the trails & the park a completely different feel. Things became exciting on Snake Bite when Tom’s diesel Samurai decided to break its steering. The four bolts holding the steering arm (?) to the knuckle on the driver side all snapped off (I may be off on what the thing is called…but Ernie - I remember you broke almost the same thing on the 4Runner a while back in MA).

While I was clueless, the resourceful Nexterra & NotaJeep crew fashioned a temporary ratchet start contraption to hold the wheel straight & on the truck. While it did not want to turn, this enabled the rig to be towed with some skillful winch operation by Tom & steady towing by Jeff.

We did several more trails before calling it a day. No other damage was had. All has a good time. The cold & recovery exercise just added to the enjoyment.

These were the only pics I took today.

Thanks for the report and for backing Jeff up on this, sounds like great fun!
Jeff, thanks for putting the run together. Even though the turn-out was a bit light I believe these runs are good for the club. They show we are still active and worth supporting.
Is it just me or does it seem as if Tom's Sami breaks more often than his X ever did... :|
Any more Pictures from anyone else?

Thanks for doing the write up Suresh. I came down with a stomach bug on Sunday and was out of commission until today. Fun times.

Here's an album from Jeff B. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipP ... hNRU10cWNB

Thanks Tom, we missed you. Hopefully the new rig is up and running soon.
The Sami does seem to break a lot, but Tom is making it stronger every time it breaks.

Looks like a good time with the snow, I'm bummed I missed out on it.

I don't know if Suresh told anybody but I had to let him know early Saturday I wasn't going to be able to make it because I had some sort of stomach bug too. So my wife and I made the 4+ hour trip Friday night and then were stuck in the hotel all day Saturday with nothing but cable tv for entertainment. She hasn't learned to drive stick yet so she was stranded with me at the hotel in Frackville.

I felt good enough to make the drive of shame back home Sunday morning but I much rather would have spent my weekend on the trails.
