With the long weekend and tons of snow, I rode every day this weekend for a total of 240 miles. Up north I can easily put in 150 miles a day, but here, with tons of woods and tight twisty trails, 70 miles is a lot. Did seventy each day on Saturday and Sunday and today, Zach and I did 100 miles from Oneonta to Andes and back. We stopped for lunch and fuel in Andes and came back on as many different trails as we could. 500 miles so far this year on the trail, not a bad start to the season.

Man that looks Sweet Scott
More snow is on the way to you.
Do you guys need to bring extra fuel with you or are there spots along the way?
what miles do you get out of a tank on average?

When we went sledding in Maine going up into Canada we brought fuel and food because there wasn't much along the way on the trails we were on.

I get about 100 miles to the tank. Sometimes, around here, it can be tough to find a gas station near the trails. Some do carry extra gas. I don't, but I have been running on fumes sometimes. Kind of have to plan. In many of these small towns, all the gas stations have closed. I bring tools something to drink and snacks almost always. From where I leave here, there is no gas for thirty miles near the trails. I always leave on a full tank.

Damn :!: just a little SNOW !!! WOW
Thats Deep, it looks like all soft powder too..

A 100 miles, thats good on a big engine sled and powder playing too.

Thats what I was thinking, that places that where there last year may not be there now. :(
and you would have to do the knock on the farmers door routine,
I've been there and done that.
He laughed his ass off when I returned back the following day with a full can for him.
Did you say that there were a few spots setup just for sleds along some of the trails up there.
with food and gas

A something Lodge... or Camp... something??
Or was it just the voices in my head

Up north there are places that just cater to snowmobilers. Here, it's where you can find it.

The mileage on the newer sleds has gotten a lot better and oil consumption is way down. The newest Ski Doo Etecs get 22 mpg and are said to only use a quart of oil in 300 miles. No 2-stroke smell, which I would miss.

I had one of the best days on the trails today. Snow condition are perfect! :D

Yes, it's cold out there, a high of 10 degrees, but I stay plenty warm. Put in another 65 miles through the woods today. 576 miles so far this year and it's still January. So far, this is turning out to be a great winter and a big storm is predicted by mid week this week.
