I went here in May before my Fj's annual group run........ Let's just say don't waste your time going there. The "coolest" thing was the graffiti highway. You can't see any of the fires burning and it's not like silent hill. (No creepy monsters chasing you) save your gas and get another day in at rausch

I was there ~ 2 years ago, and its boring if you don't know where to look...and cool if you do.

I've been there probably 1/2 dozen times, starting back when RC wasn't yet open, and I was still jeeping at Paragon, etc...and, there are still spots that are smoking and you can drop a piece of wood in and it bursts into flames, etc....and there's old mines still, etc.

Otherwise, its like looking at a field, or neighborhood with no houses and a road with graffiti on it.

When they bulldozed up the berms to make them too high to drive over, it WAS more fun to drive over them at least.

Matt, Michelle and I went to Centralia...sadly I think we were a few weeks or months too late...all that remains now is the cemetery, the municipal building and several houses...the steam / smoke seems to have stopped or the weather wasn't right...someone told us that what we saw really was all that was left...the graffiti road, the one building and the houses...there seemed to be an abandoned church but we couldn't figure out how the hell to get there since most of the "roads" were blocked with huge ass rocks that we couldn't get over...I think we just missed the "ghost town effect" by a few months....too bad, I was hoping to get pics for a project I was working on, but oh well.

I've always wanted to checkout Centralia but never had the chance. It's in my home state and I know the whole story behind what happened.
