Does the Cape have a beach permit that you can get and camp right on the beach like LI has?

The wife need some time away and thought about hitting that up for a couple weeknights.

Looking for some Mass expertise here. 8)

Jeff, here's a link to the Cape Cod National Sea Shore:

I used to get the ORV seasonal passes at Race Point Beach years ago with the old X. Camping out on the beach isn't allowed there:

However, they do sell passes for RV's to go out on the beach, but those can be limited.

I don't know if there are other beaches down there that might allow overnight camping. I don't have firsthand experience with Nickseron State Park; my aunt used to camp there a lot, and she liked it. Maybe Scott has some input, as he goes down to Wellfleet each year, right? Hopefully Rob Horton sees this thread (2kxterra). He's familiar with some campgrounds down there.

Yeah I'm in the same boat as Mike on this one. I've been to the Cape a million times and not one of them was camping. I've always stayed in a hotel when I was out there. So I'm affraid I'm not much help..

Jeff, there's Nickerson State Park which has very nice campgrounds. There's also a private campground near there in Brewster. Also, there is a campground near Wellfleet, which isn't to far from the beach. I don't have the names, but have camped at them and they are nice. One problem with camping on the Cape in the summer, there are no open fires allowed, so there goes the campfire.

Camping on the beach, there an few facilities.

As far as what to do for cheap, there are tons of things: biking, the beach, then the beach, and biking, beach again...oh, and there's the beach.

Don't forget to check out the beach.

Oh, and go to the Beachcomber. Parking for the day is $15, but you can use the $15 certificate in the bar or for food, so it's really free...get there before 10am. It's a great place and there's the beach.

Well, the drive-in theather in Wellfleet isn't too expensive. The last time I was down there, they were showing two first-run movies for like $10 a person. It's an old drive-in, but they keep it in great condition. I think there's a flea market there during the day. You can walk around P-town and check out the shops and the locals. There are some interesting people there. :)

Check out this link: 2008 Digital Edition of the Cape Cod Travel Guide

That usually contains a lot of information on things to do down there. I'm sure there are a bunch of things you can find in there. They usually have a calendar of events. Flip through it.

I've heard the Mayflower beach is REALLY good for kids. It's shallow for hundreds of feet. And when the tide goes out it leaves little pools 12"-18" deep which would be great for Bray to run around in.
