So I bought a 2000 X a while back
it's Known in the community and was owned by a past Nexterra President
Svendog you can find the build thread here
viewtopic.php?f=71&t=2148

Since then I have removed the frontend and cut and clocked the diff and knuckles to adj. the driveline angles .
hopefully the weather will hold to install the axle back under the X and continue
modifications to it.
here are some pics.

Nice to see the old girl again. Last time I saw her she was bouncing off some boulders at Rausch.

Wow, lots of work.

Was it binding or just not smooth?
Did you have to cut the links to get the d44 out?
How much did you turn it?
Do you know what that d44 came out of?
Do you know what gearing is in it?
Correct me if I’m wrong but those look like flat top knuckles, are they?
What else do you need to do before its trail worthy?

yeah lot of work...
front driveshaft was binding at the transfer case
it was almost binding at road height so at droop it was locked up.
I cut the top link the bolt was seized in the joint and so I cut the top link
then I was able to rotate the axle forward to get a rough idea on angles.
I rotated the diff up 17 deg. neg. and rotated the knuckles back to 9 deg. positive.
set the spring perches at 3 deg positive.
the axle came out of a jeep Waggy around an 85 vintage
yes it has the flat top knuckles already , hoping to add high steer to it.
gearing is the stock 4:90 arb front and rear.
that's about it really , get the front end back in then dial it back in.
I have all new ball joints uppers and lowers for it.
new shocks and a new winch.
going to change the pitman arm to a trail gear Toyota one
the steering throw is longer and it bolts in form the bottom
giving a little less angle to the steering.
limit staps are on the wish list too.
I was driving it till I took the front apart.

Hm, odd the shop that put that Clayton kit in and did not address the bad operating angle. What kind of driveshaft is in there?
Must have been tough cutting out those welds.
So not stock knuckles then, they don’t look like “Reid” knuckles (I think the Reid one has four holes) more like machined full GM? Can you get the studs out clean? Is the flat top okay?
You going to leave the 4:9 in there?
Nice you got the ARB’s!
I need more information on the Trail Gear Toyota Pitman Arm bro. Does it fit on the OEM Xterra steering box or does it need to be modified? Can it be drilled out to accept Âľ steering? Link?
What’s limiting the droop, shocks?
Nice you were driving it. Engine good?

Hybrid nissan jeep shaft
the 77 waggy knuckles have flat tops with three studs
yeah it's ok, just rusted needs new studs installed
going to leave them for now and see how it goes with the 4:9
i'll be fitting it to the box soon it's suppose to be the same spline box to box.
yes it can be drilled for 3/4 bolt
I have to ream it out for a gm one ton tie rod end
it's cut for a fj 80 tie rod right now.
trail gear pitman arm for crossover steering they have two one is a drop arm the other is a straight arm
the drivshaft was the limiter ...lol
plenty of droop just have to tame it a bit so not to stress the shocks at full droop
yeah motor and trans are fine
needs some brake work and tlc just from sitting at his house and mine.

Very nice. When you get to the Trail Gear pitman arm I'd be very in how it fits/works.
