The X-Wing build has been axed. I will no longer be building my rig according to plan. I'll bedline the sides, install my DIY snorkel, do my electric fan swap, and do a couple lighting upgrades, but that's it.

Couple small changes here and there that I figured I'd share, though it's nothing major.

I'm working on a custom front tube bumper, just have to decide what route I want to go. I know the basic design I want, but have to figure out if I want to go full custom build (with the help [and tools] of a friend) or buy one for a 'Yota and make it fit.

In the meantime, I blacked out my front burger with Rustoleum bedliner:

I did the "hood rod mod":

My coworker/friend helped me out and replace my lower radiator support after this happened to the OEM one:

My CB install is done, up and running nicely:

I made some bacon:

Replaced my PCV valve and diagnosed a possible head gasket failure as a combination of old coolant, moisture in the crank case from not driving the truck normally for a week and a half...changed the oil and did a flush and fill with Zerex Asian Vehicle 50/50. Been good ever since :D

I organized my mortar tins a little bit better:

And machined my own custom battery tie down with kickass iron cross wingnuts:

Thanks, Mike!

I went to install the tie down, and saw that the OEM j-hooks are too long, so I had to grind the ends down a bit to shorten them. I didn't want to take off too much, so I was going in small increments of about 3 threads worth of removal at a time...after 6 trips back and forth to the bench grinder/truck, I decided "Ok, sick of walking, let's do like 6 threads this time...should be perfect". Yeah, too short, haha. The replacements should be here tomorrow. I also plan on going to work extra early tomorrow morning to re-engrave the top. Pics to follow!

Couple weekends ago, I bedlined my temperature/compass display, and scuffed the screen up so it's kind of a matte black:

Then today I got bored and cut the hell out of my front bumper, then bedlined it. Also relocated my OEM fogs.

Both were free mods, everything I used was stuff I had on-hand; and I'm happy with how both turned out! I still need to properly aim my fog lights, but they're in and pointing in the right direction ;)

Cool, Kyle! Is the temp display harder to read now?

It is, but only slightly. I figured that would happen before I scuffed the screen, but went with it anyway. Looking at it head on it's easy to read, but from an angle it's a little difficult.

Dang, I haven't updated this thread in a while

Let's see, where do I even begin...

Been doing some more bedlining, other than a few small odds and ends here and there the painting is done.

Bedlined the hood, rockers, fenders, doors, hatch bump, rear bumper, hitch, emblems, rear door handle...

Freshened up the two-tone on the grille:

I won't be doing the e-fan swap (at least not any time soon), but I'll probably still go ahead and do the snorkel eventually.

Nice, Kyle! That must have been a ton of taping off for the different areas of painting! Kudos to you - I hate taping. It's a PITA!

Thanks Mike!

It was 50% masking and taping, 50% "I don't care if paint gets there". It's far from a perfect spray job, there's a couple small runs, and a little over spray on the silver, but it stops the rust, protects from rock chips, and looks great IMO. I'm happy with it. :D

I think the paint looks good man.

Post subject:  Re: The X-Wing (Pic heavy!)

Couple more updates...a while ago I finished all my bedlining. Just recently I dropped big money and lots of work into my front end. Moog greasable upper and lower ball joints, Deeza tie rod ends, AC heavy duty tie rod adjusters, Moog center link, new rotors, pads, Warn premium manual locking hubs, and new wheel studs and lug nuts all around.

Added a pair of Hella FF75's to the underside of the upper OEM bumper.

Ditched the 15x8's with 3 3/4" backspacing and 31" Interco's. Picked up some 16x8's with 5" backspacing and 265/75R16 BF Goodrich All Terrains.

Installed Flowmaster Super 44, 2 1/2" in/out.

On to the pics!
