Aaannd 35s.

Have to trim the rock rails & I think the front bumper plastic. I'm pretty sure it's going to rub more places on Sat... It's going to be a work in progress.

Thanks guys. Yes Mike, 35s would have caused too much tire rub with the stock wheels backspacing. I still need to trim the ends of the rock rails & do something with the front bumper. I hear it rubbing someplace else too on bigger bumps so more trimming needed.
Hoping to have those done tomorrow & Fri nights. Sat will show if a lift is absolutely needed to make these work.

Lift it. You know you want to. You must because you can. Clearance is required. LOL

Do the rims have a different backspacing than the stock ones?

Yup. Stock Rubicon wheels have a backspacing of 6.25", these have 4.65" backspacing. I wanted 4.5" but the rims I got are 17x8's.. according to my research it should be fine.
I'll find out on Sat... I'm hoping the tires won't rub too much with the sway bar disconnected & aired down. (I'm finding that only about 1/2 the people who post up about modding their Jeeps actually wheel. There are lots of comments saying 'it works great on the street, never been offroad, so can't say how it'll be on the trail')

So when I'm ready for my Rubi, I'll be able to find one used that has not been off road. My people have told me this too.

I'm curious, how were the 35s and your current set-up on the trails Saturday??

Current setup - 35" Goodyear MTRs, stock Rubicon suspension, Bushwacker flat fenders, trimmed pinch seam & rock sliders in front of the rear tires, chopped front bumper.

The tires & the setup performed reasonably well except for some rubbing on the rear tires.

Here's a pic of how close it gets:

From talking to the guys yesterday on the trail, the rubbing could damage the tire if it starts contacting metal behind the plastic fender. I could so more trimming but looks like the better option is to have my spacer lift installed. That's probably what I'm going to do.
