I’m hoping they work as advertised.... am a little worried about those bolts, specially since they are in the belly area where the skids normally take a beating. Only time will tell.

Metalcloak has a good reputation for quality stuff & I expect them to hold up well. Lets see how things hold up in a year or two from now.

Hey Suresh, where's this shop? Do you have any contact info? I'm thinking about saying f it and just dropping off the X with a mountain of parts and have them call me when it's done lol.

Edit: Oh, and DAMN that looks good!

Valley Truck & Offroad in Elington, CT
43 Lower Butcher Rd
Elington CT
Shop phone - 860-872-0004
Brent Moser - 860-558-1479

Brent is the owner & the guy to talk to. Not sure how many guys work for him, I’ve seen two...but they are always busy. Lots of big mud trucks always present. There’s no ‘office staff’ so might need to leave a message. He’ll reply by the end of the day. Kept me updated via texts & calls through the few days he had my Jeep in the shop.

IMO reasonable labor & doesn’t overcharge. Knows what he’s doing & doesn’t mess around.

Additional discussion about the shop moved to viewtopic.php?t=10159.

Suresh, are you going to change out the fender flares like you did on your previous rig?

The flat fenders on my 2door were primarily for tire clearance. I shouldn’t need additional clearance with the current set up...but the passenger flare does tend to contact trees quite often. I’ll wait till they get beat up/damaged before thinking about replacing them.

Ah, makes sense.

On another note - you should change that red Rubicon sticker to a bronze one.

Just sayin...

Some of you know that my winch stopped working last weekend at Brookridge - would spool out but not it. After speaking to Engo & reversing the wires, it did exactly the opposite - indicating a bad solenoid (the Engo E9000S has two solenoids).

Emailed with & then spoke with Joel at Engo who was very helpful. Ended up ordering a replacement solenoid control assembly (the full box & wires) for $60+shipping. Comes with a 1year warranty. Would have been cheaper to just replace the faulty solenoid but with my legendary wiring skills, decided a new assembly was safer. I’m impressed with how fast Joel/Engo got back to me.....wasn’t expecting much but pleasantly surprised.

Unrelatedly, what I thought was tire rubbing on my fenders flares actually turned out to be tire rubbing on the front bumper on full flex. Removed the corners from the front bumper & had no rubbing over the weekend. Here’s how it looks without the front bumper corners.

Before removing the corners (old picture from the first wheeling run with this Jeep):

Don’t like the look as much but don’t hate it enough yet to justify spending $$s on new fender flares.

IMHO it looks better without.

How is the winch wired?

The winch is wired directly to the battery per the instruction that initially came with the winch. And the box with the solenoids sits on top of the winch.

Edit - the max draw from the winch is 340Amps according to the manual. Internet tells me fusing a winch is a bad idea. Should I be looking at some sort of battery cutoff switch to shut off power to the winch if something does catch fire? Anyone installed some thing like that?

Thanks Jeff, pictures will be great if you find them. Do you have it do you can kill all power from the battery or just the power to the winch?

This is the best I can find right now. I can take a better pic tomorrow. Is at work. The winch hot wire comes from the battery to the switch, then from switch to winch. Only killing the winch.
