Just got a call from the dealer saying, they're good & the seals will be replaced under warranty! Will confirm once I actually pick up the Jeep.

That's good. Changing the seals on the front axle is no small job - the entire diff carrier needs to come out to get to the seals. So, I can see them wanting to verify coverage with FCA before starting work on it.

Remember to check that the front locker works correctly before leaving the dealership. It is easy to break the sensor connector at disassembly and/or screw up the installation of the locker sensor.

Mmm....I need to check the locker this weekend. Picked it up late & forgot to get that before leaving.

Worst part of that job for us was the wheel speed sensors they just broke like butter off a 2013 Ruby. What a PITA

Pretty sure I have a leaking driver side axle seal. That’s after the dealership fixed both seals sometime in Sept.

Will have to take it back to them for another warranty fix.

Do you trust the dealership that worked on it, Suresh?

They are usually good....plus it was free. I’m expecting it to be fixed for free this time too.

After procrastinating on this, finally taking the Jeep into the dealer tomorrow. With all the wet weather we’ve been having, I wasn’t able to reconfirm that the seals were leaking. Looks like driver side is definitely, maybe passenger side too.

Unless the work the dealership did in Sept was horrible, I can’t understand how the inner seals could leak so quickly. Hopefully the axle tube itself is not tweaked. Maybe good time to start saving up for a PR44!

Just picked it up from the dealer, fixed under drive train warranty again. The tech tried saying that someone else has worked on the front diff/axle after he did last Sept. No one did. Anyways, hopefully they did a good job this time.

Figured you guys will appreciate the notes from their inspection:

Not for nothing but did you give the tech a smack? What a fucking dick. It’s a fucking Jeep that is shown off road, running through mud and debris in every advertisement they have ever put out. What a douche.

I didn’t put it that eloquently but I did give the service manager a similar message.

Never fails to surprise them that a Jeep might actually be taken Offroad.
