Yes, I'm still around and still have the X...it is just relegated to short "commuter" vehicle status while I work on the current vehicle...

Finally came up with name for it and its latest update is the fiberglass hood...

keeping with my Project Retro-Runner the paint scheme is obviously the old school factory Nissan Hardbodies of the mid to late 80's...

The outside "look" of the truck is almost done...then its on to the cage and more...

Now almost entirely complete (from a body/paint/vinyl perspective)...

Looks cool. I dig the old Nissan desert runners.

Out of curiosity, where will you race it around here? I tried to find out if there was a race circuit like they have in southern California and other places in the mid-West, but found nothing for New England. What gives? No one to host a track, and obviously not enough open space the BLM manages around here?

Would love to see these races in person since rock crawling events and tractor pulls don't really do it for me. I like fast and high flying action!

WoW Dan, It looks bare in there.
That will lighten it up a little to offset the weight of the cage.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Where were the photos on your Flickr photo stream of you rallying the truck in the dirt taken? Was that part of a local race circuit, or a little home made course? I'd love to see some truck dirt racing sometime around here if it even exists, but they don't really do a good job of highlighting where that stuff is taking place.

BTW, WTF did Nissan put in floor e-brakes in the first gens? Just noticed the second gens (at least in the photo of the cabin stripped down) have a hand lever, which is KEY for us stick shift guys off road. Anyone ever do a conversion on the first gens?

Its been a while but she is done for her changes in 2011 and is out there racing. I finished 2nd in the New England Region SCCA Rallycross series for the "Prepared 2WD" class and have now moved on to Hill Climb events (Okemo was my first race about a month ago) and am scheduled to make my full on stage rally racing debut out at Black River Stages in Harrisville, NY (near you Dagger?) in late September. She has come a long way...Some but certainly not all of her and her details in the pics below.

Wow! Congrats on the races, Dan! The truck looks great! A LOT different from the last time I saw it.
