Well as most of you know by now I found out a very expensive lesson that XTerra's don't float...I had to replace the ECU module and the Drive/Overdrive burnt out in the tranny...well I opted for the tranny rebuild,I found a used one online at Cherry auto (Thanks Scott for the link),but the price came close to the rebuild so after a day or 2 of thinking I decided on the rebuild.I called today to see what progress has been made and if all goes well I'll have it back monday or tuesday:)

There are a lot of people who think I'm crazy for taking my X off road.correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what it's built for? if I wanted a grocery catcher I would have bought a mini van...I got the X for the main reason that it's practical for my needs.I can haul my kids, band equpitment,BMX stuff and have a lot of fun hitting the trails...

OOPS sorry for the ramble, can't wait to get my X back!

UPDATE:Well the waiting continues.I called to check on my X today.I was told they (the transmission place) had to order a part which they ordered last week. They were told they would have it by monday...Ok well monday comes, they don't get the part so the mechanic calls the place he ordered the part from to find out it was shipped on monday on a 2 day delivery so they won't get the part until wednesday....:bs: they say I should have it back by thursday.....do they mean this thursday or another thursday??? I guess only time will tell.

So you are the designated driver for your band. I had the same role for many years with my Toyota truck. I am very much an amatuer guitarist (don't have the ear to be pro) who played for many years in not one but two gospel choirs when I lived in Albany -- St. George's Black Catholic Apostalate and Macedonia Baptist Church. I figure I'm the only only sled dog driving guitarist is the world that has rocked two African American churches. I figure the X would be great for hauling around band equipment but I have had not had time to devote to music since I moved to East Cobleskill, almost 2 years ago.

So tell me more about your music and your band. I like blues and took a few lessons from Mark Emanation when he was with Ernie Williams and the Wildcats but could not keep it up due to time constraints.

How'd you wreck your tranny going through water?

The name of my band is: PLAN 607 we're kind of a "old school" punk band,we've done pretty well over the past couple years.I've been playing in a band since I was 15 (20 Years goes by quick)I've played everything from "Classic Rock",to "Modern Rock",from Metal and thrash to country and blues.I started on guitar, switched to drums and then to bass, which I've done for the past 14 years.I have a lot of fun with it and keeps me sane :)

I'm not mechanically inclined what so ever, but it was explained to me the plates are put together with a water soluble (probably misspelled that) glue,so when the water got to them, they fell apart.

I just got home from band practice in Syracuse,My X is running fine :) :) there is a little bit of a musty odor inside, but not as bad as I thought it would be.I'm so glad this nightmare is over...and I realized today that what I paid to get it fixed could have purchased all of the mods I want to add to it....Oh well thats life and life goes on...oh yeah (I apologize for the shameless plug here) if anybody is in the Utica area tomorrow night (9/30) my band is playing at The Electric company on Varick street in Utica (down the road from the Matts brewery) we're on at 10pm.:)
