That is awesome! I'm sitting at my computer (at work) smiling and giggling like a little kid. I'm getting some weird looks from people. Thanks for making this day go by a little easier! :woohoo:

Major updates! Now featuring bigger wheels, a lift, and more!

The radiator skid now has a radiator to protect! Also, new coilover detail.

Image
Sexy clear lightbar and a third-party shovel clipped to the roof rack.

Image
Armed to the gills (and comparing to the old wheels). All these weapons fit inside (except the new Officer Bricken's body armor, ran out of space :( ). Shotgun now mounted in traditional location.

Passenger side riot rack
Driver side gun rack
Hmm, how to respond today...

But that's not even the best part! Somebody gimme a WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?

Lego builders more creative than I have created suspension and steering techniques for minifigure-scale vehicles! Right now only the rear axle articulates - I'll be working to articulate the front AND give it steering next (though likely at the expense of detail). I'll see how that pans out.

Now here it is showing off its tow capacity and revamped trailer:

HA! That is awesome! Nice work!

So, are you going to sell these kits?

I think this is as final as I can make it, so I'm going to put together a parts list this summer (there have been so many revisions I'm not sure how much of the original kit is left in there, and some assemblies could probably be a little more efficient).

There's a website called BrickLink where you can buy individual Lego bricks for pennies! It's been an addiction. For now, start snapping up the Dirt Bike Transporter kits if you want a gray one, Lego only makes kits for a year or so. But the parts involved are fairly common, just a matter of locating them - you could probably very easily make one of these in a different color

We're back, baby.

So I've been jonesing for another off-road truck build. I was considering a minifigure scale Wrangler, then I decided I wanted to try for the Mercedes ENER-G-Force concept:

Image

Which I always thought looked like an X from the future. Then I remembered that I really loved the SHIELD truck from the Avengers line:

Image

So I thought I would instead build that and convert it into an SUV/camper version. I looked up the instructions online, fired up the Lego Digital Designer, and had a bit of a stroke of genius.

Ladies and gentlemen...the Super Xterra.

As you can see it's still mostly the SHIELD truck, with a new back end, and I even figured out how to make a sweetass stinger. There's some refining left to do, including a tire carrier on the roof or rear, cleaning up the front a bit, and maybe adding a little more roof hump somehow, then adding axle articulation so it's just as cool as my other Lego Xterras. When it's done, I'm definitely tracking down all the parts I need to make it real.

*For some reason, LDD wouldn't let me put the tires on the right side even though it's symmetrical to the left. Go figure, but the chassis design is the exact same as the official kit right now so it should fit IRL.

Presenting the Nissan X3 Concept!

Image

I went a little more futuristic with the design, the initial render was pretty sweet on its own but it was a little tame.

Rotating spotlight on the right front fender:

And snorkel on the left.

Note the rear-facing roof lights.

"Floating" roof rack, inspired by the Frontier's.

In addition to a heavy-duty offroad bumper, mounting points for antennas and other gear, detachable tire carrier, and roof lighting, the X3 boasts solid axles front and back for maximum articulation:

A removable hardtop:

Rear hitch and recovery points:

And an integrated hidden winch!

Did some upgrades, now I have a 3.0 Lego X!

Compare to the 2.0:
Image

Longer wheelbase, updated details, and more.

Fictional accessories:
Image
(I wish I had a drop tire carrier like that)

New hi-lift in action:
Image

Still steers and articulates:

Here's an earlier rendition where the fenders were way off, it was lifted a bit higher (dat flex though), and the belly wasn't filled in:

And ready for overland action:
