Dick Cepek Crusher Radials 33x11.5 R16

http://www.dickcepek.com/Crusher_Radial.html

Having the issue with the LTB, I decided not to replace that one tire, but rather to upgrade to the 33's and switch over to radials.

I will most likely be giving my 31" LTB's (the 4 good ones) to Tim (Outlandish_Bandit) when he gets home from Iraq. I considered selling them as they only have a couple thousand miles on them, but I figure they'll make a nice gift to a soldier returning from war. And he already has a spare set of rims.

I'll post pics when I get the new tires! :D

Those are nice tires. Every time I have looked at Dick Cepek tires they are expensive.

Your reasons for choosing this particular tire are...

They've gotten decent reviews, and they are priced well.

http://www.offroaders.com/tech/AT-MT-Ti ... rusher.htm

The other tires I considered were the
Swamper SSR's
Swamper TrXus M/T's
Firestone Destination M/T's
Mickey Thompson Baja Claws
Cooper Discoverer STT

edit to add:

The skull and crossbones design didn't factor into my decision, by the way... But I do like the tread design. Good size tread lugs with nice void space. The same qualities I enjoy in the Swampers, but it was time to try something new. :)

I'm interested to see how these perform on the trails, as not many people have them yet.

I'm pretty certain they'll do well in mud, based on the design, but we'll see.

What I'm really wondering is how they'll do on the pavement. (not that it's really a priority)

yea.. i'd like to see what the tread compound is like and on-road vs off-road pros and cons... cause they seem like a very good all-around type of tire

they resemble a bogger somewhat. hopefully the spade looking middle will help with sidehilling because boggers are pretty bad in that area...

Any reason you didn't check out Nittos or PitBulls? The MudGrappler, Growler, or Trxus are what I'm looking at for the tow rig. My reasons are a bit different though, because I have no intention of stepping down in load range...

Nittos a bit too exensive, but the mud grapplers look like great tires. The Pitbulls are way too wide.

Honestly, I also considered that these might be prone to sliding sideways, but I was thinking the way the center void running the circumference of the tire is situated would help with that.

GOT MY TIRES TODAY!!! Woo Hoo. They Look GREAT. Unfortunately it started thunderstorming just as I torqued down the last lug, so I didn't get any pictures.

Josh got a couple pics on his phone though, so hopefully he'll email them to me and I can post them.

By the way, the new tires (33x11.5) ON the rims, weigh about the same as the smaller (31x11.5) Swampers OFF the rim. So I'm pretty happy for that.

:) Pics forthcoming
