Well I'm back to 100% in NY State

I was good to go before this but had to wait for the judge to look at my case.

Nice to get all of that out of the way.

Anytime you can get through the NYS bureaucracy is a good day. You did better than most.

You wanna hear about NY being screwed up. Here ya go.

I had 3 tickets and one still outstanding to go to court.
They suspended my license for the 3.
Then when the other court finially got around after canceling my court date twice! DMV REVOKED my license for one year for total of 4 tickets.
Ok so I continued to drive around because i had no way to get to work.
After year was over I applied back for my license, which i had to fill a form to Albany and $50 check.
After 6 weeks they answered and cashed my check.
I got my license back, or atleast I thought.
4 Years Later...
I get pulled over for leaning on the yellow line.
Cop lets me go with warning .
Next day a detective and that cop show up at my house wanted to know why i was driving without a license.
I found the form the DMV gave me that states on it "Revokation has been terminated"
Turns out my check bounced, and I never knew.
My car insurance company has sent me forms that says my license is "current" but at DMV still shows REVOKED.
I got a lawyer for the paper work and that cost me $300. then $50 check and $30 for bounce!
So, now finially 4 years 3 months after I got official license back.

Hi all.

I literally deal with this sort of thing almost everyday. If you have ever gotten a ticket in this state and thought it was taken care of (like thru a lawyer, or a court clerk tells you everything is ok), don't trust them! The police do not care what kind of receipts or suspension order lifts you have on you....if the computer tells the police officer that your license is suspended or revoked...you are walking home with some tickets and a number to call to get your car back.

So what to do? Normally the DMV will send you a notice if your license is suspended. But we all know how the DMV is such a 'well oiled machine' and can never screw up. If you have gotten tickets in the last ten years stop by the DMV and get a drivers abstract. That will show all of your convictions, suspensions, license status, etc. Any suspensions will give a reason for the suspension and court location. This will allow you to go back and fix whats wrong at the court.

A good portion of drivers license suspensions is a result of some attorney not doing what he is paid, or a lazy court clerk failing to notify the DMV. In the end its YOUR responsibility to be certain that you have a valid license.
