Post subject: First Trail Damage...
PostPosted: Mon Oct 24, 2005 7:39 am
We where wheeling on a fairly mellow trail near my friends cabin last night in the rain. The bolt that holds my bike rack on was stuck but since we knew the trail is not hard we went with it on anyways...bad idea...there is one off camber hill and it turns out that it is really tough in the rain and covered in leafs...Tried to go up 3 times but kept sliding back and to the left...and on the third time I slid a bit to far tot he left. I didn't hit to hard but if the bike rack wasn't there it would have just been a dent in the bumper.

Lesson learned...anyone have any easy tricks to pop that dent back out?

The bike rack was destroyed which is no big deal because it was F'ed up to begin with and it was going at the end of the season anyways...

That's what makes me so nervous about taking my 05 out there.

To remove the dent, you'll have easy access if you take off the plastic panel on the inside. Just a couple of screws and tons of push pins that just pull out.
To get those ripples out you will need some body dollies to smooth it out. It shouldn't be too bad a job.:)

cornick,
No worries. No one wants to have there Daily Driver damaged no matter how old. RC is stock friendly. There was only 1 time I thought I would get some damage heading down from the Top on the West side.

Damn Scott you either get up early or go to bed late!

I fully understand. That is why skids are on my list for my next upgrade (Right after the crib and stroller!).

Any kind of damge sucks. This was my first damage on my first time wheeling back in the spring:

I was going through a small ditch and didn't have enough mmmph to make it,so I went to back up to give it another try and caught a small tree stump and got that little silver plastic piece that goes on the front bumper...I was going to replace it,but I figured why bother when I plan on getting a new bumper anyway.
