The Preserve at Boulder Hills is holding the BENRUS Golf Open next Thursday starting at 630am.... Just wondering if anyone will be going to this or watching it since it's going to be aired in NESN. I will actually be one of the photographers for the event. Funny part is... I know nothing about golfing ha-ha!

Crazy as it sounds my boss is very good friends with the owner of the country club. I've helped do some work on several of his projects at the office and boom now I'm doing this :D

I used to marshal at PGA events some 14 years ago. It was fun. Most of the pros were good people.

What does a marshal do, Dave? Is he the ref? :)

No, they have PGA Officials that ride around the course keeping an eye on things so far as rules go. I can only speak to what I did for the PGA as those are the only tournaments I worked.

In a nutshell; When a hole is being played you keep people off of of the course, keep an eye on where the ball is, in case a pro or his caddy has trouble locating it, and make sure nobody messes with it until they get to it. When on the green or the tee you try to get people to respectfully stay back and keep the noise down. Never interfere with play or speak to a pro or his caddy unless they speak to you first and NEVER touch a ball.

Yeah, having been raised in boot camp I'm able to grasp structured concepts easily. LOL

Dave, Mike, it is actually on the PGA list and there are many PGA players going to this thing. Only thing that sucks about it is that its about 80 minutes from where I live and I have to be there at 545 am...tee off is at sunrise (or just shortly after) and they are estimating that to be 615. (yawn) Still, completely awesome to be doing something like this!

So Dave its basically crowd controlling?

It depends on what they ask of you. Let's face it, you can't control a crowd, you can only work with it. Leveraging the decency of people gives the illusion of control. Smile and have fun. Look to the experienced ones and you'll catch on. I used to have three plus hour drives so would go the day before and stay somewhere.

I’m taking part in a golf outing next Friday that is quite different than what you guys have done/are doing. I’ll be playing with a bunch of family and friends on a public course in Brooklyn. It’s an annual event that benefits the family of a slain NYPD officer my wife’s cousin worked with.
So I’ll be teeing off as part of a 7am "shotgun" with a bunch of cops, retired cops, their families and local community folk that start drinking at around 6am…talk about an “illusion of control”…always a crazy day.

Im a paralegal in the real estate industry, but I own my own company that focuses on Real Estate photography (basically I take the pictures for lazy realtors). I do photography for just about everything, but primary focus is real estate. Check out my website if you have a second www.pictureitrealestatephotography.com
