IMHO you now need a GMRS radio in your truck

Increased Power; even the least expensive models put out 15 watts. The most any CB is allowed by law is 4 watts. You don't need to be a genius to figure you’ll be heard clearly over a greater distance.
Compatibility to FRS Radios. You can communicate with the FRS walkie talkies most of us already own and use.
The most important reason is that your CB will soon be obsolete. Most folks are scraping their CB’s and replacing them with a GMRS. GMRS and/or HAM Radio are already required at goneMOAB this year. CB radios aren’t even allowed!

The drag is before operating a GMRS radio you must have a valid FCC “ZA – General Mobil Radio (GMRS)” license.
I’ve never heard of anyone getting “caught” using their GMRS radio without one. However, the penalty for doing so can be stiff including losing your vehicle. I just renewed mine.

There is no test, you just register and pay for one. The license costs $70, covers everyone in your immediate family and is valid for ten years.
The FCC no longer mails license, you provide an email address on your application and your license is emailed to you.
The hardest part of obtaining the license navigating the most stupidest, poorest designed and least user friendly website process I’ve ever had the displeasure of interacting with. COmmission REgistration System (CORES), FCC Registration Number (FRN}, registering filling out redundant forms, what a pain.

A new reduced GMRS and Amateur license application fees go into effect April 19, 2022 from $70 to $35.
Of course I already renewed mine at the old fee. :(
But you can wait until mid-April to get yours!

Tom - did they send you a reminder or something that your 10yr period for the license is expiring? I got mine last year so a ways to go.

No reminder. When I got the midland I was looking for my license and when I found it realized it was expired
