Just wanted to get a conversation going on this...

It might be best for us to pick a destination central to all of us and just meet for lunch. We wouldn't have to agree on routes than. Just make our own way, pick up folk on that are on the way, eat and then make our own way home.

Thoughts?

I am up for this. Just not on the weekend of July 16-17 (going to the National BMW rally outside of Buffalo).

Possible destinations: Woodstock/Bethel Woods/Phoenicia New York area, Hunter Mountain NY for one of their summer festivals, Mystic Connecticut, New Hope Pa. Chet's Place in Wyalusing Pa. (motorcyclist beer/burger place). If you want to be more local, Brotherhood Winery, West Point, or Motorcyclepedia motorcycle museum in Newburgh NY. I would actually favor a longer ride than the local places.

I am open to any others. I am also open to meeting up with anyone before the destination and riding together.

Phoenicia, NY or nearby should be doable for me. 3.5-4.5hrs to get there, taking what hopefully is an interesting route. Mapped out a few potentially routes:

From West Hartford, CT.
And a different route back.

July is ECXC, so it's going to be tough. June 2nd, 3rd or 4th weekends?

Phoenicia, NY is 3-3.5 hours from me. What's there?

Don't really know. One of the places Ken had mentioned.

I've heard that the Storm King Hwy is a great ride & have been meaning to do that for awhile. This would give me a reason to actually get out there.

This would make the trip worth it for me...I could run Storm King Hwy on the way up or going back home.

As you saw, the Phoenicia Diner is there. It is a popular destination for Motorcyclists. Also, there is a lot of good riding in the area (maybe that is why it is popular). It is not too far from Hunter Mountain, Woodstock, and Bethel Woods. There, around the area, and back would be a good full day ride. You, baf6, and myself could probably meet somewhere along the way (possibly Bear Mountain or West Point - just off of 9W or not far from Rt 17 / Route 32), and ride up together for a while. Either of those meeting places should be a good jumping off point for Storm King highway.

Sounds like the Phoenicia Diner is agreeable as a destination. Those of us in the NYC area can meet up at West Point or Bear Mountain, and then ride up.

So ----

Who is in? I am in for this.

What date? The suggested June weekends sound fine with me.

I'm in as long as the weather is warm...70+. All my gear is mesh & boots/gloves are ventilated, anything colder makes for a miserable ride.

Of the weekends, June 18th - Saturday works best but I can make either the 11th or 25th work as well.

I will plan to meet up with the NY team at the diner. Will ride down the Storm King Hwy on my way back. Anyone else from CT/MA are welcome to join the ride there & back.
