I'm looking to trade in / sell my current bike (2005 sv650s). For a new bike next year or the year after. What's your thoughts. Both are badass in my opinion and would be much more comfortable then what I have now. Comfort is my top concern now because I drive my bike a lot and I would drive it more on longer trips if I didn't need to stop and stretch every 50 miles. I have narrowed it down to two bikes. Victory gunner  Victory high ball

I like the Gunner better. I asume you are mostly into day crusing and not touring. If you are into touring, I don't think either would be the best choice for you. Being American made, you should be eligible for some 1% "clubs". k_enn |

For an HD I lean more partial to an Iron. I like the placement and height of the tank. Something about the fork as well. Same reason with the Gunner Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Both are great looking bikes. My cousin, who is a life-long Harley guy switched to Victory and says he will never go back. Better ride and more up-to-date technology. |

Everyone has their likes and dislikes. I’d never even consider anything other than a HD for a cruiser, a Beemer for long trips and Honda for sport (ducati if I had crazy money). Nothing holds its value like a Harley except a Beemer. I’ve found mine to be as reliable as any other bike. They are supported by more after market companies and products than any other vehicle...even Jeep. Except for Scott's cousin HD brand loyalty is unequaled. For me, in the "cruiser" category there is HD and everything else...and you'd never catch me anything else.  f@ck yeah bro!

Honda and Ducati are good sprot bikes, but don't overlook the BMW S1000RR, which is the public version of their racing bike (which did good at Isle of Mann TT last year). Oh I’m not overlooking the BMW S1000RR, that’s an awesome bike however I doubt I’ll ever get another sport bike unless it was one of those Ducati’s with a dry clutch…and that would be more about the cache of it. I’ve always loved them… I'm not a Suzuki fan. No reason, just not. |

I hear you, Tom. Most people tend to go with one style of bike and riding. You are into cruisers, which is fine and you have a good bike for that genre. I am more into touring / sport-touring, and my bikes reflect that. Sport has never been my big thing, although I have some friends that are big into that (one guy has two Ducatis, one street and one track, and two Aprilias, one street and one track). To each his own, and ride your own ride. k_enn |
