Sounds good to me... hopefully stay off the highways & stick to nice twisty roads.

No street legal motorcycle. No one rides trails? I should bring my Moto to one of the runs.

Count me in.

Ken
k_enn
BMW - 2014 K1300S or 1982 R65 (depending on mood that day).
Catskills? Along the Delaware in NY? Poconos?

(As you can see, I have trouble making decisions). :)

Once we get the cast and destination decided, we will need a meeting place.

That, by itself, is not bad. But getting to New Hope, and returning from Oneonta could be a long, high mileage day for a lot of people. For me, that looks like a 450 mile loop, which will take a big chunk of time.

A start up by Hawks Nest (a stretch of twisty cliff-side road outside of Port Jervis) might be a better starting point. Go out highway97 from Hawks Nest, maybe up hwy 268 to hwy 10 around Rock Rift, over to hwy 206, hwy 7, up to Oneonta, returning on hwy 28 though Phoenicia, and then down 209 back to Port Jervis (or jumping off points). Looks to be about a 275 mile loop. Can't say about hwy 268 and hwy 10 - they look to be pretty minor roads.

Tom and I are talking about possible routes for a day bike trip. Tom's suggestion is one starting at New Hope (along the Delaware), up the Delaware into the Catskills to Oneonta New York. I think that may be a little ambitious if it is going to be mostly back roads when you consider the need to get back home that day.

My suggestion was to start higher up, at Port Jervis (at the top of NJ where it meets NY), and take back roads up to Oneonta in the Catskill area. A shorter trip for those of us in the NYC area. That is basically an upper Delaware and Catskill run.

Another option would be a loop involving New Hope, the Poconos in eastern Pa., over to Port Jervis, and back to the staring point down the lower Delaware. I think Tom is familiar with the Pocono area, and may be able to recommend some roads. This may be a better starting route for some people.

Don't worry about getting lost. We will ride as a group (single file) and make sure everyone stays with the group. You are only on your own getting from home to start point, and from your end point back home. I don't know what part of NJ you are from, but it might be possible to meet one of us on the way to the start point. New Hope is easy to find - right along the Delaware in Pa. Port Jervis is not hard to get to, just head north in NJ (usually up Rt. 206 or Rt 23, depending on where you are coming from).

I went for the new bike last year. No modding of the X for a while. No regrets, either.
