After commuting a couple days to my new job in Hawthorne, NY, I realized I needed some sort of bag on the bike. I used to use a backpack, but that was only a 6 mile ride. Now I am commuting almost 40 miles each way, plus I will be doing an overnight shift once a week.

Anyway, yesterday we killed some time at Stamford Motorsports and I found a nice tail bag, but they had very little to choose from. Today, we headed up to Cycle Gear where I found a nice expandable tank bag. It is the Cargo Endurance Tank Bag. That should carry everything I need.

I guess it is really designed for sport bikes, but it seems to work fine on mine. I can also mount it on the back seat if it gets too annoying in front of me.

I love tank bags.
I have saddle bags and a tank bag - and a bag that attaches to the saddle bags in back

When I was commuting back and forth to NH and used my bike, all those bags were just enough to carry a week's worth of stuff.

Seems like a great idea, but what's wrong with a backpack? I mean it'll hold just as much and cost less.

The backpack tends to get uncomfortable on longer rides, and at least I feel it restricts my movements a bit.

exactly..
I had to carry a backpack for my laptop and it was a serious pain in the rear.

Backpacks on hot, sunny days make you sweat.
