There are Two Trail Clean up projects scheduled for April.

The First one is This weekend in Norhtampton Ma. April 17th.
Sylvester rd. to Chesterfield rd. meeting time at 9:00am
at the rock face on Sylvester rd. 1/3 of a mile from Chesterfield rd.

The second is on April 24th hosted by SSW
an Earth Day clean up...event , this is in Taunton Ma.

I would have liked to go to this one and it is close to me
but I will be in Maine for the weekend.

Well, Cindi and Angela both dropped out from this event last minute, but I still made it!

It couldn't have been a better day. The weather was perfect. We worked out on the trail from about 9:15 - 12:45 picking up trash (the recycling plant closed at 1:00), took a break for lunch, then went back for round two, picking up more tires. I headed home about 4:00. It's incredible how much trash was out there. We loaded up trailers and a couple small dump bed trucks. I heard a few different people say we pulled out 16,000 lbs, of trash. It may be true - I know there was another crew on a second trail while we were on this other one.

We dumped all the trash at NER - New England Recycling - which is a HUGE recycling facility. The tires were later brought to a place in New Bedford. I think the trailer that those were loaded onto had to be at least 16' long, and 10' high. When I left, the trailer was just about filled, and they were still waiting for some people to come back from scouting the area.

The day was great. I saw some familiar faces from the NEA meetings, met several new people and, most importantly, helped make the trails a better place.
