No offense, but, old Florida rd is free to the public. I know plenty of jeepers that have been wheeling it for years.

Not sure what the point you’re trying to make is.

This Nexterra run is still only for supporting members who meet the criteria specified in the OP. Anyone can try their luck at OFR, but there’s only one Nexterra run & this is it.

Point being, is what was said, about vouching for a member. Old Florida road can be run at anytime, Any Day. There is only one spot that someone owns, but it's not on the road. I don't know how the NEA is a part of it. I get what your saying about requirements. But should not be segregated with rules. If someone wants to destroy there rig then that's on them. As far as joining fun with the group, no matter if your a member for 3 months or more then a year. Ecspecialy if they have paid there dues, attended meetings, and ran other events, they should be entitled. Not that I would want to hurt my rig, nor do I need to go. Just questioning the rule set. Its a free road, for anyone to be on, even if your on it. Same with ma bell.

Every Nexterra run, regardless of where or what it is, has a set of requirements for everyone to enjoy the run as safely as possible.

The requirements for the Nexterra OFR run are what are stated. They are not up for debate. If you’d like more discussion, let’s talk at ECXC & not clog up the event thread.

I have run OFR a few times, with a Rubicon, solid axles, front & rear lockers & 35s, its a great time, but very hard. There are many illegal bypasses people take to claim they ran OFR, we stay on the main trail & over the obstacles. In two Nexterra runs over the past years we’ve had three broken axles, broken brake lines, wrecked tires & lots of body scars.

What about supporting members who may be interested in a ride along?

Guess I need to become a supporting member. I meet all the requirements and have run it a few times. It would be nice to run it with lockers and not have to pull winch line a million fvcking times.

Yea, dude, you do. Lockers are great but the first big rock ledge most of the time requires winching. We’ve had a fully locked Xterra break both front axles getting up that thing once.

Post up your interest & someone going may have an empty seat.

This isn’t about being “elitist” or “gatekeeping”—it’s about being responsible.
The Officers and Event Committee Members take your safety as well as the safe keeping of the venues it uses seriously.
In this instance “vouching” for you means that an Event Committee Member is going to take responsibility for you. That you stay on the trail, that you respect the land and fellow participants, that you don’t drink or smoke crack and that you and your vehicle get through the entire trail safely.
This kind of run is normally not “open”, they have always been by “invitation”. This Officer decided to somewhat open it to maybe give folks a chance to run it with a group that would look out for them.
This was, IMHO, a mistake that just opened him up to being misunderstood and the club resented.
Maybe he learned a lesson… I did.

This is a complex topic. On the one hand, I understand that the road is public and anyone with any rig can run it if they so choose. But I also understand that NEXterra is a private club and can make whatever rules they wish, especially when safety is concerned.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go fail the greens at GG

There was a time when proper driving alone would get you up an over that first step up. Then you needed a at least one locker and so on and so on. I haven’t been there in a couple years, but I’ve heard to two major step ups are hammered now. I’ll keep my opinion to myself as to why that happened. It being a public trail has nothing to do with it.

Did not mean to come across cocky. I apologize, and appreciate the safety measures not just by officers, but other runners as well. I've always had an issue with questions and how far I take them. I hope you all have fun at ecxc, and have a safe ride to and from, the event.
