Ok so I would just like some friendly advice. Ive spent the past year building my tool collection. I know it will never stop. However I have invested quite a bit in Craftsman. I have already swapped 1/2" drive flexhead breakerbar ratchets 3 times using their lifetime warranty. Im aware that other brands hold the same policy such as Husky, SK and Snap-on. This may sound stupid but what is the quality difference. I know each brand has minor physically unique attributes and some are made in Chinas. Im not looking to downgrade, better tools are worth the $. Im also aware that in my hood craftsman is abundant in Sears so a swap is easy. How about around the rest of the countrys?

I have mostly Craftsman hand tools as well. I have a few Snap-on tools. I think I have a couple of Husky pliers.
The only Craftsman I’ve had fail was my ½” torque wrench but I bought another not able to justify the cost of a Snap On and needing it right away.
My Snap-On 3/8 drive ratchet has a very short throw so I can use it in a tighter space than a craftsman. Even my untrained hands can feel the difference in quality. The two professional mechanics’ I’m friends with use Snap-On hand tools exclusively. When I’ve seen one of them use a Craftsman tool of mine on the trail he acts as if he’s is in pain. I must admit that I might act the same when I use a Husky, SK or GearWrench ratchet. Our friend Dave uses mostly Snap-On tools in his shop.
If I was making a living wrenching and/or had the money I’d have all Snap-On hand tools but for wrenching on my truck in the AutoZone parking Craftsman will have to do.
Shit, you can get a 165 piece Craftsman Mechanics tool set for the cost of a Snap-On 3/8" drive ratchet.

Ok, I see. How about as far as sockets go though. Harbor freights seem to dis-form and strip bolts as well as swallow nuts (lmao). Ive noticed comparitavely to other brands talking about 6 point shallow & deep ones around the edge is tapered off making some harder to seat properly or get flush. Also some sockets are physically more girthy making them harder to fit in certain areas. Whats your preference?

same here I would love to have Snap on but my Craftsman set still gets the job done, Ive had the set for 4 years and have only had to get my 3/8 drive replaced once so far. Ive gotten a couple hand tools from harbor freight most of it was ok I had a C clamp bend in the middle just installing an add a leaf kit which I guess you can expect and cant complain too much for only spending about 3 or 4 dollars for it.

Craftsman isn't what it used to be though. These days I actually like Husky better - their ratchets are Snap-On clones.

I agree that Craftsman "isn't what it used to be" however I like them better than Husky. I’m sorry but I strongly disagree with the opinion that Husky “ratchets are Snap-On clones”. IMHO they’re not even close.
I’ve never had a craftsman socket splay or lose shape however I have never abused one. I’ve seen one splayed when a guy use it to remove a wheel lock; hammering it on to a wheel lock he had lost the key for. I have a “cheap” Taiwanese set of 1/2” drive impact sockets, regular and deep, that I use with my impact gun or when I need to wail on one.

Fair enough, but we use Huskies every day at my shop - haven't had a failure since we opened in 05.

I like the harbor freight extendable ratchets in 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive. I use them at work and on the trail. Short throw and smooth. I havent had any problems with the sockets either.

The 1/2 inch ratchet held up to Ernie standing on it to break an axle nut loose on OFR.

Not a fan of Craftsman ratchets. Their other tools are good.
