I'm not too concerned over the stock shock location. I have dragged mine over all kinds of rocks with no problem. The skidders do keep you from getting hung up on rocks. The stock mounts get caught.

I'm not interesting in moving the stock shock mounting points. A lot of work for very little gain.

Ok, so how are you keeping there from being bolts on the underside of the "skid" part?
Thread bolts into the topside of the skid? Nut welded to the topside of the skid?

Ubolts - just like used on the engine skids by Skid row and Shrockworks.
The nuts go on top of the spring pad, the U-bolt goes under the skid. It bolts right up.
I have a prototype made and mounted on my X right now.

I'm leading the trail run at Ma Bell this Sunday, so there possibly will be some action photos with the prototypes being posted afterwards.

this has nothing to do with off-roading but since there are family people here... I was at the drive on Wed night and I dropped the back seats down so they were angled (trying to create comfort for me and my girl) but was... a bit unsuccessful. Anyone think of doing a slip-in/on foam formed pad so you can recline in the back of your X???

What about a flip-down tire carrier rear bumper? I know how heavy my tires get and just dropping them from my pickup's bed to the ground is always interesting

there was an xterra at ecxc that had a tire carrier like that. I'm sure there is a pic out there somewhere.

looked like it would be annoying...

down to the ground.

Basic way to describe it would be a reverse stinger, with the tire between the body and hoop. The tip of the stinger would drop to the ground. I built one for a Rover while I was in NJ, I'll see if I still have the drawings on my computer at home...

Should be no more annoying than a swing out carrier, unless you mind pulling two hinges instead of one...

but wouldn't you have to step over it to get into the back of the truck?

The ONE thing that No One is offering...a Pre-Fabbed Bracket to raise the front bumper after a BL....especially one that could be retained to brace the front end for winch duty too.

:D

Its easy to raise a Shrock bumper, the ARB and stock bumpers, etc...are going NUTZ having to find a fabricator to do this for them on a case by case basis.

A BL bumper BL kit, bolt on, would be a HOT seller.

:D

Yup, but it would have a simple quick release to pull off/on in those cases where you're loading up a lot of junk...

If anyone gets me a pic of the mounting for a bracket such as that with some quick measurements, I'll look into it...
