A week ago Sunday we had a lot of rain in the northeast. On a way to a friend's house with my son and Steph, a railroad underpass was flooded with a car stuck up past it's window sills. I thought about going through it to "test" the snorkel out. [:D] I had the 30"s on since I am driving the X alot on the road, the 33s were at home.

With Steph and my son egging me on, I drop it in 4low and went for it. Soon the X had a wave of water on the windshield as I kept the gas on hard. We emerged from the other side safe and sound with a woman in a mini-van that had her jaw in her lap, watching in amazement. The look on her face was priceless.

The X did great though some water got by the door seals appearantly. Not a lot but enough to notice the carpet was wet. Between this event and DaggerDoggie's experience with this, I want to seal the interior of my X against deep water crossings.

The doors are the biggest issue I have since there are 2 ways the water can get by, the door seal and the interior door panel. Does anyone have ideas on how to do this? I will look into this on my own but hoping someone has proven ideas already. BTW, I would like the doors to remain functional. [:I]

I already know about those vents under the rear bumper caps, those should be easy to seal-up. As well as where wires and cables come through the firewall. I have di-electric grease for the connections under the hood.

Any other areas where water can get in that aren't so obvious?

Thanks!

If you can figure out a way to seal the doors, let me know. I have thought about this a lot and have not found a good, practical solution. The doors are the biggest thing. If I could find a thicker rubber door seal that would work, I would try it. So far, I have not come up with it.

I did extend my diff breathers. I put the rear one up into the top of the rear tail light. That was easier than expected. The front one is in the engine bay.

Jim, glad to see you back again. How's the new location?

Anthony, good one! I would have missed that.

Scott,
Been here a month now and things are good. Still have to finish my place and get it on the market. Steph's place should be ready by mid-month. How are things there?

I'll check behind the door panels to really see what I'm up against. I see the lock linkage being an issue as well since it runs inside the door to the lever outside the sheetmetal under the plastic door panel. Since we have power locks, shouldn't be much of an issue just pulling the rod off.

Are there any plugs in the floor? I know the 05's have a tub under the trunk floor with a plug in it.
