Never heard of them but they could be great if they work properly. Pretty cool concept.

I've seen those before.
They are supposed to work really well.

I have a pump bleeder, but I have still always found the best way is to have two people. One at the brake who can follow instructions and me at the bleeders. It's not a hard job with two people. I will bleed the brakes, drive it for a few miles with hard stops and sometimes bleed again.

I had to change my rear break lines after I f’d them up during the NEXTerra Black ‘N Blue Run at Rausch last month.
I figured I might as well install some Speed-Bleeders while I was in there since it would make it a bit easier to bleed the lines (by myself) afterwards. Plus at $9.95 a set WTF?
I got the Russell brand;

Got the part # from the Russell site; http://www.russellperformance.com/mc/speed/truck.shtml
Ordered from Summit Racing; # 639560 for the front disc and # 639570 for the rear drum.

The SpeedBleeders are a bit longer than the OEM valve (fronts, OEM left);

So they stick out a bit more when tightened down. I’m hoping that will not be an issue…I don’t foresee one…

Rear brake with messed up line and OEM Bleeder Valve;

New line (not tightened down yet) and speedbleeder;

Front with speedbleeder;

Followed the instructions to bleed;

Worked as advertised, so far I likey.

I like this concept. Im big into bleeding my brakes about every 30k. Always used the BG vacuum pump machine we have at the shop though

Sounds like a great idea. Zach is good at helping with this, but since he's graduating, I may have to look into three sets of these. Jonelle's not thrilled with helping me. :mrgreen:

Resurrecting this old thread.

After my Sunday wheeling trip where I found my stock front axle breather hose had come lose, I extended the breather hoses and will be replacing the diff fluid tonight. Now I'm thinking brake lines might need to be extended also. I remember Misha or Justin broke a brake line on OFR last year & figure it's better to check. But my questions are on bleeding brakes - because bleeding is a pain, I was looking at installing these speed bleeder things at the same time.

Having never done anything with brakes before (yes, never :shock: )... please bear with my stupid questions.

1. When removing the stock bleeder thing, do I need to worry about anything to keep from breaking them off?
2. When installing the speed bleeders do I need to use Loctite or just screw it in?

Thanks.

You should have no trouble removing the OEM on your "new" truck.
Have a rag handy and leave the cap on the reservoir when you do it.
If you look at the picture of the new SB above you'll see it has some type sealant (gray) on the thread so you don't need to apply any when installing.
Mine still work..

What makes that aftermarket one faster than the OEM one?

"SPEED BLEEDERS
One Person System Takes The Work Out of Brake Bleeding...Bleeding your brake or clutch line has never been easier or simpler! Revolutionary double-patented Speed Bleeder replaces the original bleeder valve in your caliper/wheel cylinder with a spring-loaded one-way ball and check valve design. This unique design opens to allow the old fluid and air out, then closes automatically between pumps to prevent the old fluid and air from re-entering the line. It's a real time saver!"

So you don't need to open and close the valve

Thanks for the info Tom. I just placed an order for the ones from SpeedBleeder. Can't really go wrong for $7/each. Sure beats trying to find someone to pump the brakes.
