ok a few months ago, i broke a leaf.

i have been waiting for " the deal " on some parts...
but that deal isn't moving fast enough for me.
so i talked with my buddy that is a manager for an auto parts place and got the scoop.
my truck was available with either 2 and 1 as i have ( 1 main and 2 stacked under ) or 3 and 1...
what would happen if i went to the 3 and 1 over what my truck came stock with ?
was the 3 and 1 the tow package ?
i'm just trying to find out, out of these two packs what one would i less likely run into this issue again ?

thanks in advance.

more leaves means less stress on each individual leaf.

basically, yeah, more leaves in the spring makes the ride stiffer

you won't necessarily gain more height unless the springs are arched enough to lift you, if they are too flat or too worn they will sag and you wont gain any height

and yes, i believe the only way to get the third spring was with the tow package....mine came with the tow package and had 3 springs plus the flat spring, but i have seen xterras with two springs plus the flat spring

Maybe, maybe not to both.

There are so many variations in the design of leaf packs. It depends on what you want.

What are you looking for?

Get a set of used springs off a 2000 or 2001 Xterra. They have more leafs and were a little beefier than the later first gens.

Yes, they will bolt right in. Everything is the same, except for the springs.
