Question for all of those who have upgraded their alternators. What beyond the physical unit did you need to replace? I somewhat remember that a fuseable link needed to be changed out but a quick search resulted in nada. More wondering how Dagger has been making out with his installed unit.

I just installed the alternator, thinking that I would have to do something with the fuseable link eventually. Well, I have the Mean Green alty, winch, lights, compressor and never a problem.

From my experience is was a simple replacement.

Wow I thought alot more people had already swapped in a higher amp alternator :!: Guess Dagger is the only one running a higher amp for now. :P Thanks for the info too Dagger. Was worried I was going to need to find a fuseable link for the M-G's alternator.

OEM alt has always worked fine so when I had to replace it (mud) I just got a re-built cheapie. Been in there fine for a few years.

I was just about to mention this as well.. it's slightly higher in amparage as well... I wanna say the Stock X's alty's are 80 amps and the Quest's are 110 amps..

Well I was more interested in the opinions of those that have upgraded (and which model-year) and additional parts that might have been needed. Considering Dagger's reply it sounds as though the F-link is not needed, since it is the highest amp alternator out there that I can tell (200 Amp). I had seen the Quest option and was looking for information from those users.
