The look great, Gene. They are also easy to wire from that location. Just find the stock wiring for the OEM fog lights. Even if you didn't have them the harness is tucked away in the front.

won't the high amp draw of the big lights cause the stock fog light wiring to melt?

That was the only reason why I never hooked it up that way.
I'd love to reuse the stock fog light wiring for lights.
So much cleaner and easier.

Did you guys totaly not use the Hella relay? I would imagine you guys just tapped the wires straight from the fogs to the stock wiring?

RIX you might want to think about these types of connections (T-Tap).

I know from my experience disconnecting the two wire type can become quite annoying. What this type does is allow for a wire to pass through and then connect the second wire using a spade terminal pushed through the middle opening

Finally got around to installing my new Hella 500's today. I was going to install them as back up lights but decided not too. They wouldn't have looked right. But I still gotta wire them up and get them working. I also used some Krylon Fushion paint to hide the white covers they give you. Damn they stuck out like a sore thumb. Now I gotta get around to mounting my air tank but I have to wait till I have some extra cash to get the regulator and a mounting bracket. I have a couple of ideas that I might look into first before dropping the cash on the bracket. I gotta take a run to HD and see if they have what I'm thinking of. I also have to do an oil change in both X's. They're both over due. Now I won a sweet K&N oil filter from the raffle, but I was wondering which I should use it on. Should I just throw it on my black X that off roads or the white one that doesn't. Decisions!! Here's some pics of them installed on my truck. Oh an sorry for the driveway shots. I haven't been able to off road it in a while cause of no cash.

Very easy, and since I had the OE fogs, I turn on my KC Daylighters with the stock foglight switch.

Hmmm thanks Scott and Anthony.. I didn't event think of that. I still have the wires up front for the stock fogs too.. Is it safe to use use those quick splice connectors or should I cut and splice?

So I would have to imagine it'll be fine.. I haven't had foglights in such a long time I didnt have any idea what bulb they took. I didn't think it was a 55w h3 bulb. Cool, if that'll work, then I definitely will have an easier time wiring my lights back up.. Just curious...(To the electrical gurus) If I were to wiring up (4) 55 watt lights to the stock harness/tree switch, Where/how would I wire in a relay? I have a VERY interesting idea to try to execute. Thanks.

I used the Hella relays for the install, but I am sure you would be fine using the stock relay. The power draw is about the same. Besides, you have a spare if the stock one fails. Those Scotch connectors work fine and are easy to use. I get anal with this stuff and solder most everything, but I have used them and cannot think of a time when one failed. If I use them, I coat the outside of them with silicone for added water protection.
