The blue one. Finally, new tie rod ends, they've been sitting in the garage for months and new idler arm bushings, thanks to the efforts of Dave at Bandit 4x4.

Now to work on the yellow truck. I have ordered new hubs and, if time allows, I will start tearing into that tomorrow. I may not have it road ready by the Back to School Run, but If I drive within the pack, I should be fine.

Since you don't wheel the blue truck I don't care about it.

What needs to be done on the yellow truck besides the hubs?

To get it trail ready, just the hubs, unless something else is toast in there. To get it inspected and on the road:

New windshield
New taillight lens (I have a right one, but need the left)
A new 3" exhaust extension...nobody bends pipes in this stinkin' town anymore.
I have to drive it to get the emissions codes set since the battery has died several times from sitting...and there's the quandary. It needs to be driven to pass inspection, but I can't drive it without an inspection. NYS no longer will give you a 10-day temporary if your inspection lapses.

Other than that, it just needs some care and elbow grease.

I know you don't care about it, but it's my daily driver and I didn't dare drive it out of town. It really needed the work and I refuse to let someone else work on it so it's been bad for a while.

For you, Tommy, I will tear down the Yellow X tomorrow. Hopefully, it's only the hubs. If I get stopped on the way to the trails, I'll need your Brooklyn pizazz to get me out of a ticket. :mrgreen:

You drive in front of me on the road; if a cop attempts to pull us over I?ll stop so he checks me out and you keep going. You?ll need to ignore any feeling to pull over to make sure I?m ok (as I know you would normally do). As long as it?s not a female Statey I?ll be cool and meet up with you at Robby's or back at your house if it's after wheeling.

By the grace of God mine passed the state safety inspection and emissions today. I then swapped in the junkyard gas tank. I put my fuel pump in it and the new fuel sending unit I've had for 6 years. Just need to get the front U-bolt flip kit on and I should be good to go.

I got the Yellow truck up on jack stands. Man, the thing runs great! I miss the sound of that truck. Since it has sat so much over the past year, I cleaned out the engine with some sea foam.

I have all four wheels off the ground and everything seems to be working, both front wheels turn when locked, but I know they both won't spin with weight on them. I tried as much as I could to stop one wheel, but couldn't.

Now to start taking things apart to see what the problem is.

It's good to work on the truck again.

After pulling both hubs the right one is in perfect shape; the left one, I'm not sure. While I could get it to work with the wheels off the ground, I'm hoping that is what was failing under pressure.

I remember last year I couldn't engage it by hand, but had to use a set of pliers to turn the ring. With it apart, the internals are all rusty and perhaps the spring was hanging up so it would not engage properly.

New hubs will be here this week and hopefully that solves the problem. If not, the problem is in the differential. After working on it, however, I don't think there is any issue in there.

I did rebuild the idler arm and got that installed.

I hate working on my X anymore. It seems thats all I do.
Went for trail ride today and the gas tank is leaking at the fuel sending unit. I used my O ring that is a year old. I guess its shot. I'll have to order a new and replace that before the 19th.

I understand, Dana, I'm sure I'll feel that way soon since I've let things go for so long. I like modifying, but fixing all the time is a drag.

I need a big mod to do on the truck.

Now my winch is not working. It powers in, which is the good news, but won't power out. Solenoid clicks, but will not engage.
