Hi Guys. I'm trying to get my warn hooked up to the new bumper and having an issue that I'm looking for some advice on.

The solenoid box has two options for installation apparently. One using a little triangular piece that Jim shipped with the bumper that goes on top of the bumper and one way you can hook it up right to the bumper and it hides it inside. I don't really have any preference for where it goes, I just want it easier to reach than than the Smittybuilt I put on my old truck. Basically you had to be double jointed and have arms like a 10 year old girl to get the remote plugged in where that one was.

Here are some pics if they help. If you need another perspective or anything let me know.

The winch itself isn't bolted in yet, it's just sitting there.

If anyone can post some pics of their installation that might help me out too.

Thanks in advance.
Ed

Well I had to make a little bracket to hold my solenoid in my bumper and Jim has a cable you can get from him that get's plugged into the solenoid and then does to the hole in the bumper. This way all you have to plug the remote into that.

If none of the 2gen guys post up a pic I can post up some for ya of mine.. Just let me know... ;)

I had the same problem. I mounted the solenoid on the top of the bumper, using the triangular bracket. I can honestly say that I hate that location and am looking at moving the solenoid inside the bumoer. Gene said that Jim sells the extension to utilize the plug on the bumper. I want to call about that one tomorrow to find out. Hope that helps ya.

Yeah I think it'll cost ya $15 for wire.. I have mine like that and you don't see anything..

I also just used a thick L bracket and attached the solenoid to the winch body behind the bumper.

I mounted my solenoid behind the grill and made my own harness to fit into the bumper. It's just a matter of cutting the wires and soldering them back together so it is long enough to reach the mount in the bumper. it's a very handy location.

Awesome. Thanks for the info all. I'm going to call Jim tomorrow and see if he can hook me up with that wire. I'm negatively crafty so making my own probably isn't an option lol.

Well after researching and sending an email to shrockworks (and not hearing anything back in 5 days) I emailed Warn. Warn emailed me back almost immediately with the instructions for an installation on a Chevy that has a little pigtail that comes with the kit that plugs into the solenoid plug and then extends it to the hole that Jim has drilled into his bumper. It's flexible, so you can mount the solenoid anywhere you want and have the remote plug socket conveniently located on top of the bumper. Exactly what I wanted.

I can't figure out how to get a picture out an adobe form or I would post that part, but if you want the instructions with pics I'd be happy to email it to you.

I called Shrock the other day and ordered the extension at a cost of $30.
