So, I'm driving to class last night and, about halfway there, my driver's side headlight goes out... Since my truck stands out, my odds of getting tagged were going up each mile, using the single headlight as an excuse.
So, I know that I have to change the bulb pretty quickly.
As I'm driving home, I think to myself; Is the driver's side the side that you only need to have the hands of a 12 year old girl to be able to get in and change? Or, is it the side that requires that you have the arms, hands and flexibility of a kupuchean (sp?) spider monkey in order to get to the clip that holds the bulb, then be able to get the bulb out and in?
Then, it hit me.... it's cold, it will be dark when I get home from work and I did just install a volant CAI.. So, no matter what, it was going to be un-fun..
So, getting to the bulb took about 45-50 minutes. Swapping the bulb took 5 and then another 10 to put everything back. I decided to change the other bulb as well so that they matched, which was another 20 minutes.
While I love my truck and think it's one of the best vehicles that I have ever owned, I have to wonder if there was a competition among the design engineers to see who could put something into the truck that would cost 5 times more in service costs to install than the part actually cost?

Changing light bulbs should be easy, but I would rather do just about anything else on the truck. In the same amount of time you could install brakes on all four wheels.

True, but it gives me something to look for while buying. If it's got a blown headlight bulb, leave it alone
