Unlike older vehicles, you can't just go probing @ wires with a test light to find electrical problems in certain systems.

some people can't live with out: 
DUCT TAPE (notice the pieces are in the best shape ever) I have a tool box in my X that just has your basic sockets,wrenches and screwdrivers....for now |

While they do come in different sizes, they are standard. If you go to pick one up, just tell them what you have and they'll know. Unless you have a dump truck or bus for a big-ass puller. |

Thanks Gene, I?ll let you know. The Nissan service manual has you use a Conical Pitman Arm Puller to remove the pitman arm.  VS.
What would be the benefits or disadvantages (besides price) of using ether of these tools?? |

It looks as though the conical one may be stronger. I have the style on the right and used it many times. It cost me $35 at NAPA. Be aware of the cheapies. I broke two of them before spending money on a good one. The money I spent on the first two would have paid for the one that has lasted years. |

If you don't have one, get a code reader. You don't have to be an experienced mechanic to make great use of one. Mine has literally saved me thousands. If I get a code, I write it down and clear it and see if it comes back. Often it does not. A shop or the dealer will want to replace the part. One part can cover the cost of the scanner. Since the ECU (computer) is just a glorified voltage meter, you will often get errant codes while wheeling through the mud. A little moisture can send a faulty code. After I sank my truck, I had codes for months but I kept trying to dry things out and clearing them. Eventually, they were gone for good. Mine reads the codes and gives the electrical values, which I can check against the ESM. I have this on my laptop: http://www.autotap.com/ paid for it once and all upgrades have been free. |

Gene, the seal driver kit is also available on Harbor Freight. I just bought mine not too long ago for when I have to do my wheel bearings. |
