Got my Nissan Quest Alternator today. I found a good deal on ebay and ended up being the only bidder :).

Figured I'd upgrade now before putting on the winch and I know I'll want lights for my Shrock bumper. Still saving up $$ for a new battery.

I've got the stock alty off (man is it dirty!) and just silicone sprayed the heck out of the new one. Next step is mounting, which hopefully won't be too much of a pita.

:D

Anthony it's not that bad.Your a smaller guy so your hands will have more room in there.Especially to get to the top bolts. But good luck putting it back on..;)

It wasn't too bad at all. It fit without any modification (I'm not sure why some people say they had to grind down the mounting points.)

The only problem I did run into, however, was that the screw for the ground wire is smaller on the new alternator. Luckily I had a screw with the correct thread, just too long, after grinding it down a little it was fine.

Here's some pics

I think you may want to swap the pulley. It will make it easier to install.

There wasn't anything not easy about the install, it was basically a direct swap in.

And, I did try to swap pulleys, but the pulleys are NOT a direct swap. The pulley from the stock unit hits the body of the larger alt. when you tighten down the nut, so the pulley won't turn.

Also, I talked to Dave Cheli tonight, and he said he didn't have to modify anything to fit his either. Just had to re-adjust the belt tensioner, same as I did.

I'll tell ya this much.Having the 2" BL will help on the ease of getting to the two top bolts on the Alty..;)

Just a heads-up about this swap..
It is an absolute pain in the ass to swap on a new belt with the new alternator (larger one).

I went through this a nightmare a couple months ago..

I will save everyone the headache and give away my trick (compliments of Sam and an hour of frustration before hand)....

Warm up the belt with a hairdryer right before stretching it onto the alternator. It stretches just enough to fit over the larger pulley.
Just tighten it down a little bit and it should be fine.

Mine fit fine over the new pulley... Just had to loosen up the tensioner.

You must have gotten lucky. ;)
With all of the adjusters cranked out, I still needed to either grind the case or get a larger belt.
Just heating and stretching the belt turned out to be just enough to work.
I was so close to taking an angle grinder to the alternator while it was still in the truck. :(

Overall, definitely worth the headache at the time.
And now you have a spare alternator for the trail.
