We might, might bail on the camping end of things. Too late to cancel and get the deposit back so we'll keep an eye on the weather and see how it goes.

Regardless, we will be there to wheel Saturday and for the evening dinner/raffle/etc.

We may take off after Saturday wheeling but before dinner/raffle. Gametime decision.

Weather report shows great weather for the weekend...

I would recommend staying for the dinner/raffle even if you aren’t camping. There are some awesome items on the raffle. You have to be there to win.

Folks - I just spoke to the Campground & was told only 9 sites have been booked so far. If you have not booked your site yet, please do so today!

If you are not staying at the campground, you must pay the visitor fee ($6 day / $13 over night)at the office & register your vehicle prior to heading to the field for the drivers meeting or the dinner/raffle.

Enthralling, is a more touching approach.

Noob Questions:

*Do you disconnect your front sway bars?
*How far do you air down?
*When on an obstacle, do you lock your transmission into 1st gear?
*I assume 4Hi for trail driving and 4Lo for an obstacle?
*Any other tips?

*How far do you air down? - 15-18PSI for Gremlin. Depends on tires/wheels.
*When on an obstacle, do you lock your transmission into 1st gear? - Don't have an Auto. Usually in my stick I'm in 1st or 2nd gear the entire day.
*I assume 4Hi for trail driving and 4Lo for an obstacle? - 4LO and leave it there from start to finish of the day unless going on paved roads.
*Any other tips? - When in doubt, put it to the boards.

As for weather, this is New England. It'll change 8 times by Friday.

With that said, we ARE planning to be there Friday around lunch to setup.

Only 9 sites booked? That seems... Really light considering we've had at least 20 rigs camping the last few years we've been there.

I found simply disconnecting the sway bar isn’t enough. The bar itself gets in the way of the suspension travel.

I find I like 18psi in the woods with 285/75’s. You may be better suited at 22-25 with the 265/70’s. I’m going to try 15 with the 305/70’s. 18 just didn’t seem low enough with the increased volume.

Generally if I’m in 4wd in the woods, I’m in 4lo. I’ve been experimenting with having it in 2nd the whole time, to prevent unwanted shifting and to try to keep the trans temps down. Lately I wonder if my logic is backwards. This weekend I’ll keep it in 4lo and D until I’m at an obstacle. Then drop to 2nd or 1st.

I only really use 4hi on the road in really bad snow. Generally 2wd is fine for me up to a couple inches.

YMMV.

Thank you all for the great info. I actually do run 285s so I'll air down to ~15. And it sounds like my front swaybar is coming off! Is that something that can be done at the trailhead during airdown or does it need to be done beforehand (I am not camping and will not see you guys until the morning)

Show up a little early to the drivers meeting. Take it off there.

Are you going to permanently disconnect the sway bar or do it every-time you wheel?

He’s a thought - if you haven’t really wheeled before & have not taken that sway bar off, why not wheel Gremlin with it. Then when you eventually take it off, you can truly appreciate the added flex.

Plus if you’ve never taken that thing off, who knows how easily it’s going to come out. Every time I attempt to do something simple, it usually turns out to be a time consuming PIA......it could just be me, but it’s always a possibility
