Post subject: How about a n00b info thread for folks like...me!
PostPosted: Tue Aug 12, 2008 11:01 pm
Hello all,

I am a new owner of a 2008 X model, and just learned of your club. I am keen to get to know some like minded Xterra people, and would have no problem with becoming a card carrying member.

While most of my wheelin' experience has been the ATV sized type (got me a 07 Yamaha Big Bear), I am no stranger in my youth to razing hell in the woods with the old pickup truck. Needless to say, doing this with a 20 something thousand dollar vehicle with 500 miles on it gives me a pause.

Now a man has got to know his limitations, and a bone stocker can only do so much. On the up coming school run, is someone like me able to get around and whet my beak without getting in over my trucks head? Cause if I do it will be the last time anyone sees me, as my wife WILL execute me...

That said, I am planning to pimp my ride to deal with more challenging terrain in the future.

Any info, advice, warnings and salutations will be most welcome.

I look forward to meeting you all and learning about the Xterra way!

Peace,

toaster802

Ps..I have a 1993 F-250, southern truck I am selling that would fund a bumper to bumper fitting of Shrockworks goodies... :D

First and foremost, welcome to the crew.
Secondly, we always find a way to give the more stock members something to run that will give them a challenge, but not to the point where problems could ensue. And, we always make sure that you are comfortable with anything on the horizon before trying it out. That way, you know what's going on, where and when.

As for the Back to School run, there are still some details to be worked out, but it has always been a good time.

Welcome to the crowd... we're glad to have you.

Welcome!

Unfortunately, I won't be attending this year's B2S run, but maybe I'll meet you on the trails one day

These guys won't let you get in over your head.

Here's a noob question for you, where is the B2S Run held? Also, is armor necessary? Thanks.

B2S starts at Scott's house, which is near Oneonta, NY. The property that he's told me about appears to have a decent mix of trails - which I took as meaning that there are some that are stock friendly and some that are not so stock friendly....

Don't get all excited yet, I'm just asking questions, sheesh! :-)
If I can take the time off/can afford to go/don't need to worry about having a yard sale on the trail because my truck died...I'd love to go!!

Welcome

When I first joined the club 2 years ago B2S run was the first one I went on and learned a lot as well as got to meet everyone! It is a great time and def suggest that you come out. Also with that said my X was bone stock and we did stock trails and you should be fine as long as you don?t have bald tires... As everyone said, no one in the group is going to make you do something you are not comfortable with and they will tell you if they think it is not a good idea. Now if you take their suggestion is your choice.
:D
