I misjudged how long I would have before having to paint my skid. This is all surface rust. Can I use WD or PB to clean it or do I need to schlepp to the store for brake cleaner. Image

I didn’t know any if those clean surface rust from a skid. I guess, it makes sense.

Aren’t their paints that can be used without cleaning the rust...something about sealing it from air getting to the surface?

I’ve used POR15 in the past, while it works a great, it’s a pain to use.

I mean, it IS a skid plate. I don't really care too much how good it looks. I'll probably hit it with a scour pad and some degreaser and then go straight to primer.

That's all. Hit it with a white brush or scour pad. Wipe it down with acetone and prime
