So while doing major repairs on my truck, I decided to do something simple: clean the air filter. I couldn't remember the last time I did it.
I open up the air box and it is packed with leaves. There must have been 30 of them in there. They must get sucked in through the snorkle. I've never seen it happen, but it must not be all that uncommon.

Hmm. That sounds like my in cabin filter.
Would screen on the snorkel help?

There is a screen, with about 1/2" holes in it. They must roll up and suck in. At least that's all I can think of. There's no other way in there.

That's crazy! At least they didn't go into your engine though!

Now that you know, just check from time to time. It shouldn't hurt anything to have a couple leaves in there

Problem is, I silicone my air filter shut. Checking it from time to time is an involved issue

You could put some window screen over the inlet to the snorkel. I've seen that done, it's actually quite effective.
