So I plan I finally tackling the rear diff this weekend going to do right ;) before adding the SWCover I got, going with the royal purple gear oil 75-90 synthetic which should do the trick and I guess you don't have to add anything?for an LSD diff ? Now I havent looked for a sticker yet on the pumpkin but anyone driving a pro4x know for sure if the diff is LSD ?

Not sure why this one scares the hell out of me been putting it off ;)

Thanks

Pro4x has an m226 with a locker. You need 75w-140 gear oil.

Although I don't drive one, I think all Pro4x's came with a manually activated (i.e. Flip a switch to activate it) locking differential not an LSD.
My first time was quite a bit daunting but it was quite straight forward. I found scrapping off the old RTV to be a pain though...and still do.

You should not need any additives. The diff is not a LSD. The ABS controls wheel slip / spin. Go with what is written in your book for gear oil. Mine does not spec any additives.
You should have a switch to lock the rear axle on the dash while off-road.
Yours may require synthetic 75 - 90. I am pretty sure that is what mine specs (2010 OffRoad) it varies from year to year.

That weird that the "offroad" specs 90 and the "pro4x" specs 140. I wonder what Nissan's reasoning is.

Well, before the PRO-4X hit the market they had over four years of service on the M226, so maybe they changed the spec based on that.\

I've always read that the M226 gets 140, C200k gets 90.

For some reason Nissan threw us a confusing switch from 75w-140 to 2009 to 75w-90 in 2010 & and then back to 75w-140 in 2012 or 2013. Working from memory but I'm within a year on the dates of the switches. My 2011 manual calls for the 75w-90 but since Nissan switched back and the diff remained unchanged, I've stuck with the 75w-140. Also the quantity of lube required is significantly less than what's listed. The electric locker takes up the additional space.

Good luck!
Scott
