Hello Everyone, So quick question I have notice I have been bottoming a little since I started adding my armor on the X, I am about to add my last three skids which add another 80lbs , eventually I will add a lift but not until next spring once I ride the trails a little. So I thought I would replace my rear shocks until then, I figured this would help the bottoming a little if not get rid of it so I wanted to upgrade my stock billsteins which have about 50k on them to the 5100's , is this a good idea or am I wasting my money ? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance |

What year truck? Most likely shocks will not help. Add-a-leaf or new spring pack in the back. New, heavy TB or at least a re-index of them in the front. |

Agreed... If you are bottoming out on the shocks new shocks will not correct that concern. new or old if you are hitting the bottoms all you would do is kill your new shocks. A lift and heaver load bearing springs are essential to start compensating for the added weight. how ever you could install some bump stops to keep the shocks from getting hammered. while you are waiting on a decent lift. you could also do a PML just to give a little more height and travel for now. |

Thanks guys for the info. I'm running a 2012 pro4x, I was going to do a rough country 2.5 inch lift but read they didn't fit the pro4x models, I was kinda bummed about that because it seemed a pretty straight forward install, I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff but learning fast. How difficult is a PML? Thanks again guys the info is really appreciated ! |

I suggest getting yourself a set of Timbren rear bump stops. Those will help immensely until you replace your leaf packs. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk |

Thanks again guys the info is really appreciated ! for a 2012 it would be coilover spacers for the front and either an add a leaf helper for the rear or a rear shackle kit or both. and yes the timbren bump stops are the way to go and they can stay in anyway after all your mods. |

What Ernie said. But, anything over 2" in the front will require a minimum of new bump stops on the upper control arms. New aftermarket arms would be better. sent from a crawlspace... |
