i pulled the cap off of my frontier this weekend. when the cap is on my cb antenna is mounted to the ladder rack. i needed to relocate it to the in bed trackrack, which is where it goes when the cap is off.

i removed the antenna to make things easier to manage. while i was handling it i noticed a faint rattling noise. i removed the red cap and realized that the locknut had come loose and the adjustment screw had threaded itself all the way down. since it was loose i needed to check the swr and retune the antenna. while i was disconnecting the coax to hook up my meter i found that the connections at the back of the cb were loose. both the 90 degree adaptor and the coax connector were unthreaded, not all the way off, but close.

i have been having trouble with my cb transmissions being cut off or choppy lately. this would be a good reason. i'm just glad i didn't fry my cb or antenna by being so far out of tune.

we have some decent weather for the next few days.
check your antenna and connections!
