We have to replace the timing belt, water pump, etc. on the truck and was wondering if anybody knew of a quality (and reasonably priced) shop in SE Mass or northern RI that we should check out. I got a quote from a dealer, and the labor was surprisingly high.
I just ordered the parts, but feel it may be too cold out when they arrive to do it outside, and I'd like to get it done quickly to avoid downtime.
Any recommendation is appreciated.

i hate to say it but i went to TJ over at mastria nissan on rt 44 ma. He did a great job. I paid for it but at least i know it was done right. I had gone to other shops and some of them didn't know what needed to replaced and that gave me a feeling like" i probably should do it here then".. Sorry i know it may not help in price, but at least you know it was done by a cert. tech who does these all the time..

Can't help you with a specific recommendation, but any good mechanic should be able to do the job. There is nothing particularly weird about the timing belt on the Xterra.

Agreed! It's not hard on the Xterra and the belt even comes with a mark to TDC for timing.
The water pump is like eight bolts, clean the surface and install with a new gasket.
Any competent mechanic should be able to do it in a few hours. Incompetent ones like me, it takes all day.
