Well just a quick look at the prices for parts thru Xterraparts.com . You're looking at this much just for the parts needed.

Timing belt kit $271.70 at xterraparts.com
Manifold $64.79 at rockauto.com
So parts alone are $336.49
Price could be more depending on what else is needed to complete the job.

So quote price is $1150 minus the parts price comes to $813.51
Not sure what his going rate is but the $813.51 roughly works out to $85.00 an hour for 10 hours worth of work.

Now is that a fair price? It's not bad. But when you start getting into the $85 range your usually looking at what a Nissan Master Tech. would get.

Now another factor is how much is he getting quoted on for the parts? Is there anyway he'll go down on price if you provide the parts?

Oh and welcome aboard!!

Price sounds about right for the timing belt, water pump and then the exhaust manifold. Both are time-consuming. Jobs.

It took me a full day to do the timing belt and at least two full days to change out the old manifolds with headers.

I paid about that price when I had that done as well.

See if he'll work a deal where you supply the parts and he does the work. When I spoke to a local mechanic about having it done next time around, we figured out that I'd save a couple of hundred going that route, but he couldn't warranty the parts.

I just had my manifold done last week and had an oil change with synthetic "high mileage" done and paid $900.00. The price they charged me for the manifold was almost twice what it would have cost if I had ordered the part through XterraParts.com. The problem is the stealership marks up the part to the mechanic and then the mechanic marks up the part. It's all about profit for everyone. Oh yeah, that also included a charge to investigate the service engine light. I have been quoted about $275.00 for the belts so you're probably right on the money.
