ok, ok, dumb question, but my truck's in the shop getting a laundry list of things done and I said do the oil and diff fluid while it's there. Both are overdue.

The mechanic is a Jeep guy so he asked what to put in it and I'll be damned if I can remember and the manual is in the truck somewhere. LOL!

I seem to recall the engine oil being 5W-30, but not a clue on the diffs.

This is in a 2000 SE 4x4, running synthetics all around.

Anybody know the details offhand?

Thanks,

Rob

80W90 GL-5 gear oil or if you have limited slip, 80W90 GL-5 LSD gear oil.

But don't bother with the LSD stuff either way.

The LSD additive makes the clutch plates in the LSD more slippery. The LSD have a low break away point on the Xterra anyway, particularly on the '02 to '04 models. So, if you leave it out, you'll get a little more push when you need it.
